Crazy Forge idea

Hey, I was working in my dad's garage the other day, fixing his heater, when I got this crazy idea. Why couldn't I use this heater to make a forge? The heater in question is a forced air kerosene heater, some people call them salamanders. Anyways, the cumbustion chamber is around the same size as a normal gas forge. The way I see it, I'll just have to replace the air cooled steel chamber with fire brick, and plumb in the air somewho, and it should work. Has anybody else tried something like this before?
