Crazy Stag Bowie

Very creative. And like they said, unmistakably your style. Awesome knife Don.

Shock absorber?? ;)

True confessions...I couldn't stop myself. Don and I have been talking "next knife" for a while. This one rocked me. My wife heard the thud of my body hitting the floor, spent a few minutes ogling the pics on my computer screen then realized she'd better revive me :D

The stag caught my attention first: texture, color, and shape in that order.
Then my eyes jumped to the blade. The damascus pattern commanded my attention. Yes sir, that's what I like! My brain said...Right size, love the shape...the clip!

Then I saw that butt  I hope my wife didn't hear me softly say "oh damn, look at that butt" before I fainted. As I write this I realize she was probably looking for something else on the screen and deciding what to do with me!

Upon awakening I looked at Coops detail shots. Great job capturing the essence of this knife, Jim! Thank you!!!

I had to get beyond the first butt cap pic, which took a while. Then I was able to appreciate the spacer and the "negative" coloring effect, which really complements the overall look. The guard caught me next with the swirling damascus pattern and the shaping/flaring.

I went back to the first pic and noticed how much I like the form in the area of the ricasso (spine to edge). Great shapes, angles, and depth also reflected in the 2nd detail pic.

So, off to Paul, who graciously agreed to create a suit befitting this knife. Can't run around with a naked Hanson at my side :eek::eek:

I'm excited to see this knife in the flesh with a Paul Long sheath to finish off the package. All joking aside, I am really pleased with so many aspects of this knife. It will join the knives below as my third stag Hanson.

OK, Rob, we need to talk! :D I was out at Don's with a friend on July 4th to pick up some lumber from his brother. My friend was getting a tour of Don's shop when Don pulled this wonderful piece out to show us. I didn't get to put a hard inspection on it that day, figured I would after it made it back from Coop. Now look what you have done!

Super addition, my friend!! You know the plan, I call seconds. :D

Hi guys,

Rob: It's all this and more. No disappointments whatsoever. The stag feels SO good in the hand. It's crazy.

Let's see it again. Only this time I'll enlarge the details:

Mark Knapp called out the walrus ivory insert. How did he know this? He's good. :D

I was starting to highlight the front of the guard, but then that dreamy psychotic pattern on the handle side was a siren call.

Paul will elevate this even more. (2014 is going to be a smokin' year for the BB thread!)

Thanks to all, and thanks especially to Don for the opportunity.

Thanks for all the good words guys! Much appreciated!

Side note; My 10 year old computer died yesterday and I'll be hard to get a hold of for awhile. Might have lost all old emails and contacts? We'll see when I get the new one going.

The knife and sheath are on their way. Haven't seen or handled either yet but am quite stoked after seeing the attached pic from Paul. Unmistakably Hanson and Long.

Will post pics after they get here and I have an opportunity to snap a few photos.

Sorry, Joe. I was possessed by some Knife Grabbing Demon. This is a knife that would enhance either of our Hanson collections. Will keep the "call seconds" front of mind. I hope you remember all of my "call seconds" in your collection :o Lets just promise to contact each other prior to putting any Hanson on the market :D
