Creating on the COVER for Tim Hancock's book...

Believe me, my friends, when I say that THIS Dogbone dagger is MY
favorite Tim Hancock knife.....

I think it looks great and that blue ivory is amazing. I cannot be specific but one suggestion might be to play with the color of the the title to make it contrast more with the whole page. The knives stand out very much but I think the "Tim Hancock" is a little bit soft.

Great composition!

ddd, The Arizona Deserts will give you all the color choices for choosing your cover. The knives and sheath you have selected represent Mr. Hancock's many talents and I'm sure the book contents will be a world of more information and awe.

man that dagger is sweet! I noticed that the background for the photo is the same color you have so far chosen for the cover of your book...coincidence?
:)

If I might make a color suggestion....

As the title is The Western Bladesmith, why not colors that evoke the West, Deep Dark Reds, Umbers, golden yellow or subdued orange? The Turquoise competes with the first volume, and the colors suggested will go nicely with just about anything except bright purple.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I thoughly agree with STeven on the colors. The knives are fine, all his knives are FINE. I'm really looking forward to owning this book.

Let's not forget this one:thumbup:

Michael, that's probably my favorite Hancock large knife.

I fine it appropriate having a nice representation of Tim's sheaths on the cover as I'm not sure many realize that along with Tim being one of the world's top knifemakers he's also very high on the list of the world's top sheathmakers.

Here is my final cover layout and design and the final
background colors....

Thanks everyone, I appreciated all your suggestions that
no doubt helped me formulate this end result.

I also enjoyed sharing the final stage of my year-long
creating process of making one of my books...

All the best,

David, is it possible to get a book that is autographed by both Tim and yourself?

That cover looks much better in the brown tones than it did in the green.

Keith,

You have two options to get copies autographed by both of us:

1. Come to the May 2009 BLADE Show, we shall both be there.

2. order a numbered copy directly from Tim. Only the first 100
copies are numbered and signed in advance by Tim and myself.

All the best,

That's a great result David! It looks very nice:thumbup:.

David,

Outstanding job! It's a tough job to put a book together that matches the quality of Tim's work but you have done it.

I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview and David has outdone himself. I think this book is your best work yet David. Great job.

Thank you Josh, but be prepared for a greater surprise as whatever
draft of the book you saw, it cannot really prepare you for the final product... :)

All the best,
