Creative modification contest???

I'd like to get in on this...sounds like great fun and a real challenge. The kit idea is terrific---do they come with complete and easy to follow directions??? I'm just remembering my attempts at model making, but if creativity is going to count maybe its not that important, well except, getting it back together and working. How much will creativity count and how much for working:D. Preston

Pretty easy and complete directions. Anyone with the right torx bit should be able to put it together and have it come out almost perfect (but rough) in under 15 minutes (i'd say)

That's with predrills scales and precut scales....if you want different wood, different bolsters, a backspine, filework, etc....you are talking many hours.

Someone with the torx driver, sandpaper ranging from 100-800, a medium sized file for roughing out the backspine, etc, and maybe a set of needle files to do filework, can make outstanding stuff. If you have a bench grinder, which many people do anyways, get a buffing wheel for it and you can easily mirror finish bolsters or scales once they are sanded very very fine.

Take your time, removing each grit with the previous leaving no scratches from the rougher grit. once you are at 400, 600-1000 grit comes much easier.

Interesting idea for sure.

I have been toying with the idea of doing this to my sebenza. I have it drawn in Solidworks just awaiting some inspiration. I haven't opened this file in a month or so.
Currently looking at buying some stabilized wood and doing a 3d surface operation to it on the nc mill at work for an inlay. Maybe this is the kick I need to do something anyway...

Here is a pic of the file

After lookin at these pics, I know I've got no chance
BS!!!! If this flies, I'm going try my dangest to elimate all of the pros. I want this to be a truly amateur contest. This will my first mod, but I think I have a couple really cool ideas.
ANYHOW,
I just wanted to bring this back up so folks can have a look.
Thanks.

I'm interested in this for sure! I like the kit idea. Actually, I've been thinking of getting my first kit anyway, and this would inspire me to do it!
Count me in.

I'd love to do a kit also, button lock would be nice, and same model with options of different scales?

If we could maybe get a dealer who sells these kits to offer up a free kit with say the purchase of at least 10 of the same model for the contestents to use that wouldn't be bad. Just throwing the idea out there.
