Creek Stewart's new survival show on weather channel

They're as fragile as they appear. Think silver tissue paper. There probably are thicker ones though, I just haven't spent much time researching them.
 
I believe you're correct on "fragile".... I did some google searches and I can see why you buy them in multi-packs as they are a one trip use. There are some heavy duty ones kind of like the old "space blankets" from years ago.
