This one was done as a joint project by Carl Rechsteiner and myself. The blade was forged from a blacksmith rasp, clay coated with a cloud like pattern and etched. Carl added the distinctive and unique file work on the spine. Wrought iron is the guard material with a handle of osage orange, red/white/blue spacers and leg bone. Vegtan is the sheath core and is wrapped in beaded elk with fringe, tin cones and hair roaches with extra beads. The frog has two antiqued buffalo head nickels. This is a pretty big package being 14" overall, 8 1/2" blade edge, almost 2" wide and 3/16" thick. Even with the size, it's super quick in the hand, blanced right at the guard and wicked sharp. The blade was forged in my shop, Carl did the file work and handle. Sheath bead work is mine and Carl assembled and added the decorative touches. Lots of fun doing this and sharing ideas with each other. Last stop for us will be to raffle off the knife at the March Track Rock event to purchase Track Rock shop equipment.

The buffalo nickle conchos look like real coins. And I love the filework. Did Carl use an engraver for the arrow?

Great looking knife and sheath Rick! I would have expected no less from the two of you. I can't wait to see it in March and I really hope to be taking it home with me. You should try to come down to the Georgia Guild Meeting the 27th of Feb at our shop. You could bring the knife and give us a preview so we can get all excited about the raffle next month. We are going to have a good time and see some good demonstrations. We eat good down here too.

R-Lo,

You and Carl have really done a great job (Is that a surprise to anyone?) I see a bright future on these types of collaborations between you two. Hope to see you guys soon.

Robert

Robert you and Rick both should come to the Georgia Guild Meeting next week. I could call my Senator and see if he could expedite a visa for you and maybe over night you some Georgia plates for your car. That way you shouldn't have much trouble as long as you don't stop anywhere. Carl is going to do a demo on how to pick an anvil and we need some people to heckle him from the crowd. We are going to have a good time. Any other makers within driving distance of Statesboro are welcome too. Just give me a pvt. message and I will get the details and directions to you. I think that Carl said that he was going to try to have the knife down here for us to drool over.
