Gah, I need to get away from this website, I registered just to ask about the SOG Mini Pentagon, and now I'm looking for an EDC folder... ;)

I'm a little apprehensive of folders just because so many I've handled are for right-handed use, and they range from being irritating to honestly dangerous for a lefty to use. However, I've fallen in love with the sleek style of the Cricket, and am wondering if anything, apart from the clip which I'll probably just remove, would prevent it from being lefty friendly?

Well, lets see. The opening hole is about 1/3rd blocked by the frame when you hold in in your left hand. You can open left handed, but it does require a bit more concentration, so you might have problems in moments of stress. Then there's the framelock, which is set up for right hand use. While a lefty can close it, doing so is considerably more awkward than closing a left handed liner or framelock, or a full ambidextrous lock like the front lock and ball lock.

Aside from that, no problems at all. :D In balance, the "good news" is that there is a somewhat decreased risk of accidentally unlocking a framelock when it is held in the wrong hand.

I was worried that might be the case. This may not be the place to ask, but can anyone recommend a similar knife that would be southpaw-compatible?

You might want to check out the Lava. The Dragonfly has a lefty friendly lock, but the clip is right hand only :(
