The cricket is an awesome "small knife." I picked up an Etched PE for myself and had to get one for my gf too. I would love to have a SE Etched, but I know they are not offered in the combination. Is it possible to swap the blade of a SE cricket to an Etched cricket body?

Also, for those that have a Dodo, how much bigger is the Blade compared to the Cricket? I saw the specs online and noticed it wasn't that much bigger. I'm assuming that it is much thicker though.

To your first question, yes.

The blade on the Dodo is probably only about 1/2 inch longer IIRC (don't have my Dodo any more), but it has a more acutely curved tip, and, yes, is FAR thicker stock (at least twice as thick is my impression). It's basically a Cricket in a heavier duty form, with a wicked tip useful for all kinds of tasks, and a very sturdy handle. My main gripe would be the ball-lock, too hard to unlock one-handed (first generation of ball-locks?).

Here's a pic to help you decide. :)

I got a dodo and found that under pressure the ball lock would squirt out like a pea. I relagated it to work duty, which is mostly opening boxes and picking at labels. It became indispenseable and I got another as a back up. This time the ball jammed tight when locked. Also the ball locks tend to get gunked up with lint. I used one as an EDC for awhile but it wasn't as useful as it was as a work knife.

I love the dodo at work but have come to the conlusion that the ball lock varies a lot in how it "feels". I also have used a cricket at work but the hefty handle and thick blade of the dodo usurped the cricket. I still have a cricket back up in case the bliss ninnies start yapping about my scary dodo.

Thanks for the photo!

About 7 days after this post, I picked up a Blue SE Dodo. I have to agree with that it might be too "scary" as an EDC for the NKP. Something about the curves on the dodo + Se = "scary":jerkit:
The dodo has become my dedicated night stand knife and sits next to my streamlight. If for whatever reason I can't get to my XD(which sits right next to the DoDo & Streamlight), I know I can rely on the dodo to do what it needs to do.

When I have to tackle any cardboard, the dodo gets called to duty. It eats cardboard like it is nothing. I find that I carry my PE Etched cricket everyday in/out of my house due to its size and its cutting ability. It is also NKP friendly. Even some of my friends said the cricket was cute but the Dodo was "nasty and scary" looking. I think it looks great and works even better .

BTW here are some pics of me waiting for my Dodo.

Excellent score CM!

Out of curiosity, what was the birth date of your Dodo? The first run had that problem due to the tang shape, but I believe that was fixed in the later runs.

I'm not sure, I've had both of them for a few years and I didn't get them at the same time. I kind of like the one where the ball squirted out like a pea best because it is nice and smooth, easy to operate with one hand. In my work application the problem of it unlocking is a non-issue and I actually have not been able to get it to do that lately. The later model, the blue one, locks up tight but is a little harder to release with one hand.

But I love them both. I work in a hospital lab and can't believe how often I am reaching for it to open boxes. The tip comes in handy for when I have to gently lift up a label on a specimen so I can see it.

One thing I did not think of when I ordered my second cricket (which came today) is the lack of a choil (choil?). I can really wrap my hand around the dodo. It's an awesome knife in spite of the few minor flaws.
