Crisis intervention: Shaman V police 4 V native Chief V millitary V manix 2

Military only has the pocket clip facing one direction, so there is that…

I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those listed above. All great choices!

The Resilience really doesn't get mentioned enough. You have the budget 8Cr13MoV option, which is a solid worker in its own right, and then you have the S35VN version, which is excellent. Never go for G10, but always FRN on these models. The Chinese G10 is not as grippy as American, and loses what grip it does have pretty quickly through wear. Not to mention their G10 scale edges are a bit sharp. The FRN on the other hand is molded with great ergos, it's more than tough enough for a folder, and Spyderco's bi-directional texturing is simply brilliant.

As the knives are all roughly similar in length I guess a big part of this question is bound to;

1. which type of lock you prefer.
2. weight.
3. Thickness behind edge.
4. Carry options.
5. Blade steel.
6. Legal length restrictions

For me 1 & 3 is the main priority.

Slightly off-topic but, since you’re a fan of the Chaparral (as am I) - the Sage 5 is essentially a larger version with a compression lock. It’s not in the same size class as the ones you’ve listed, but you may want to consider adding it to your collection.

I’ll always have a Police model, they’re iconic, and slim which carries nearly unnoticed in the back pocket. Plus I trust the back lock in tip a up configuration.

Will definately check it out, thanks for the lead.
