Steel is 1095, all brass, and cherry wood. I've come a long way these past 3 months I've been making slip joints, and you guys have helped me a lot. I got a ways to go.

I know the tang is about 1/8" too long. I will etch my mark on one side and then some design on the other to at least use the space... The spring didn't cooperate with me, it ended up more straight, i was hoping it would pick up a slight back bend. I still don't like my nail nicks.

I think you did a great job. In a few years time I bet you can built top tier stuff.

Very nice. If I were you I would use the heck out of it and put it to every test you can think of using it for. I like it.

looks solid to me, well done
I've only made half a dozen myself (and eager to get back into it)

how does it look in the open position in terms of the blade aligning straight to the handle?
I know most buyers fret about the alignment in the closed position but I think the open position alignment is more important, because the knife cuts in the open position and that's where it need to be straight.

on the nail nick, I use an abrasive cup in a milling spindle

Personaly I don't like the wave like spine of the handle. It doesn't looks right to me.
Techincaly it looks well made

Looks excellent.
Personally, I like two matching pins in the scale.

Not sure what you mean by two matching pins. A pic would help.

I may try that. I want the nick to have an angle cut slightly below the ledge, so it's not just a straight line. In the OP is a pic with it open.

I was making this curved handle so i could get a feel for making something like this

I want to eventually make stockmans my main thing. I need to work on the spring curvature a bit. It's tricky.

I like the serpentine look of the knife, just keep making them. As far as the nail nick goes you could dress a dremel
grinding wheel at an angle and carefully work on the nick while getting the round belly below. Think I made 100 or so
before a surface grinder got involved, both for flat parts and nice nail nicks. No feeling like once you get to like them.
Ken.
