Here are my 1st 4 attempts at grinding blades:

The top knife is 8.25" OAL with a 3.75" blade (1095 steel).
The second knife is 7.25" OAL with a 3.25" blade(S35VN).
The ESEE 3 is just for size reference.
The bottom 2 "necker style" knives are 5.9" OAL with 2.9" blades. The little tanks are .179" thick.

Please offer opinions, good or bad. Thanks

Are you thinking about powder coating on your blades?

Nice blade shapes overall. Remember not to thin the blades too much before heat treat.

You have a natural talent for knife making.... very nice tactical lines with smooth grinds. Great first efforts!

You did a really nice job on the ESEE....

I kid... I kid.

Very nice overall. Clean grinds and good plunges. What are you using to grind with ?

Looks good to me too.
But 4 at a time for your first try? Why does everybody wants to make me feel like a slacker. ;)

One thing on the top two: You may not want to bring the grind that high before HT. You've got .045" at the edge now and you'll want to take that down to say .020" or less after HT. Since the grind is already up to the spine, you're going to need to change the angle of the grind so you don't break through at the top of the plunge while thinning the edge to something that will cut well. This is possible, but not super easy.

Not too shabby my friend. Leave the 10XX and O-1 steels a tad thick (de-carb ya know). The stainless, not so thick.

Looks like you have become very comfortable with your new toys. I said it before, and I'll say it again, "You have a bright future ahead". Take it slow and easy. Be a stickler for detail. Think "Fit-and-Finish".

Great job,

Robert
