Critique this knife please (pictures)

does anyone besides me think it looks like crap?

Im sure its functional and really strong but for 600 I think it should be dipped in gold or something.

Same thing with the sebenza....UGLY.

Also I wouldnt pay 600 for a knife and want to carry it arround with me. Id be petrified that I would lose it. Id have to just leave it at home in a safe or something.

C'mon, man, act foolish! I've given myself a $50/month knife budget. That makes me save for a long time for the expensive knives I want, and makes me really think out my purchases. I don't think the Sebenza or the Bob T. ATCF are particularly beautiful. They do look pretty good IMHO, and I plan on getting both, sometime down the road.

As for carrying such an expensive folder, I once felt as you did. I've started carrying better EDC's, and I make damn sure not to lose mine.

I love the simple looks of Bob's knives. FWIW, the Starmate was a Spyderco of Bob's design and was super popular. I just got a "Terzuola Jr" by Spyderco (C19) and it's really cool, too. I assume he makes a great folder as that's what he's spent his career as a knifemaker doing. You can try to find a Starmate for a cheaper alternative, I suppose, but honestly they're so well-liked that you'd probably be able to get one of the real thing more easily (although, more expensively).

I agree with Tiewas, IMO for the price and the ergos, I would buy something else, if it's for the craftmanship's name and fame, that's something else... :D

Hard to beat the ATCF for its design. Check out this one, all dressed up in ironwood and titanium.....
