Crk and locktite?

Maybe I'm a nerd… But yesterday when I got my first sebenza I couldn't help but read every piece of literature in the box. I found it interesting that the box includes locktite, but the warning sheet says do NOT use locktite??? Has anyone else noticed this discrepancy and what is your preference?

I am glad to have a knife for a change that allows you to disassemble so in some ways I think I would prefer her not to lock tight but if you have noticed screws coming loose maybe I should just lock tight and use the hot paperclip trick when I need to take it apart or change lanyard etc.

If you have a sebenza 21, you don't need the locktite. If you have a 25, Inkosi, Umnumzaan then you will. The 21 has the bushing pivot system which you can essentially tighten down fully and it will still be as smooth and free as ever. The other CRK knives have adjustable pivots and may require locktite to keep the pivot where you want it without loosening over time.

Good to know, i did pickup a 21 and while clearly not as free falling as a bearing flipper it does have a very smooth action. Getting burnt out on flippers and bearings now anyway...washers tried and true!

Sounds strange you would have received Locktite with a 21. Did you get the grease also?
Most likely just a packaging mess up

Well actually maybe I miss spoke there was an empty slot in my case where I assume the lock tight wet since I've been told that Loctite comes with CRk kvives

Does the Inkosi and Umnumzaan come from the factory with Loctite already applied to the pivot ?

It's surprising to me that the Umnumzaan is so much less expensive than the large Sebenza and Inkosi.

Well depends what u mean. plain jane large seb 21 is cheaper than Umnum unless inlays or double lugs vs plain jane large inkosi slightly more than umnum. I just wish they did an update on the Umnum like they did with 25/inkosi. Wish the butt of the handle on Umnum was similar width (not thikness of handle as they are same i believe) to the 21.

Yes , I suppose you're right. I was thinking of the large 21 and large Inkosi both with inlays or CG design.

And you raise an interesting question : will CRK be unveiling a new updated Umnumzaan at some point ?

Also , I've heard people call the Sebenza21 "outdated". But how outdated can it be if it still continues to work great and sell well ? To me , it seems like it's too much of a classic to ever get scrapped by CRK. However , I felt that way about Benchmade's 710 and look what happened there.

I have not had the chance to hold on inkosi or 25 in hand yet but I intentionally went looking for a 21 because I prefer the simpler handle shape to the finger grooves...that said im sure i will end up trying one soon.

Dgebler,
You made this thread, misinformed everyone and didn't even post a pic of your Sebenza. :grumpy:
Come on man, redeem yourself and post a pic!!!!!!! :D

After I lost a screw (rear, and CRK quickly sent me two new ones) on my 21, I disassembled the whole knife, cleaned the threads with solvent and put it back together with blue Loctite. Haven't disassembled it in 4 or 5 years, everything's still tight. I lube the pivot with BreakFree occasionally, that's all.

I thought there was originally locktite in the missing slot in this package but apparently I was wrong
