Awesome collection ice_man. Pics are great too. Getting to the point the pics are better to look at than the knife!

Thanks JF! The iPhone 6 Plus has a great little camera and it helps a lot with such a beautiful subject... Nah, nothing beats holding and admiring it in person... :D

Always wondering about that "black" raindrop damascus. Usually it is more "dark grey". Is this non stainless damascus? Or just photo editing?

It's probably HC Damascus. They are usually more of a black color than the greyish stainless Damascus look.

It actually says Stainless on the birth card. When I saw a photo of it at first, I thought it was a high carbon damascus.. It's pretty dark too..

I cannot confirm though whether it is coated or not..

Editing is pretty minimal on these so as to show te exact color. What you see here is what you get in person.

I was really surprised at how dark the Damascus on this one considering that it is stainless. I always thought that it was just the HC Damascus that were this dark...
 
Thanks for your replies. Whatever the reason is. I really love that dark black. The whole pattern comes out like "3D", if you know what I mean. Fantastic!

Lol....I guess I can take that comment back. My large Bocote ladder Damascus arrived today and the blade is as black as you can get. This DT Stainless Damascus is easily every bit as dark as the old HC Damascus. For quite some time you could tell the obvious difference. Not anymore from what it looks like. I will post pics soon to show you guys.

What is the birthday of that Bocote Ladder? My 2015 Raindrop is pretty light compared to this 2006 Annual. It's almost dark grey...
