alright, i decided i want i want a bm705. it is a big little knife, if you can understand that. i know you remember i had said a week ago that that knife is a pos. here is why, benchmade seems(to me at least) to have quality control issues. i looked at 4 705's at the store only one of them was as i would hope it would be. one of them had a large burr on the blade edge that was completely unacceptable, even crkt does much better than that usually. but, the one good one is what i want. i would have bought it on the spot, only problem is it is combo edge! darn. i don't want to order this on the internet since i don't know if i will get a good one. if you had to bite the bullet and get the comboedge would you do it? i really don't want that. i am not skilled enough to sharpen it and benchmade won't either! anyways, this knife pretty much takes care of all the shortcomings i mentioned about the 771. it is pretty thick. this is good and bad for me. good, because a shorter knife can fit my hand. because of the thickness i can still get a good grip on it. bad, because it feals like a brick in my pocket. well, if i can get a good one with non serrated edge this will be my new edc! the thing is built like a tank. very thick full liners with thick g10 over them! the blade is rather stout for such a small knife. certainly, less likely to snap than the blade on the 771, imho. it is just a shame that the cuda edc didn't work for me(see my other post). overall the cuda edc is a better knife(imho), save for the axis lock. it is also half the price! anyone know who has a big benchmade selection and doesnt charge full retail in chicago?
thank you,
holdanedge.
p.s. i looked at a few crkt s-2's i did not like these! for $25 that some people got them for it was well worth it. although, the quality did not warrant the $90 the store i went too wanted. i guess that is why they did not sell so well for their intended price.
