With the start of every new year brings a lot of hopes, desires and goals to all of our lives, and with a new incoming gov't administration, it can be an exciting or frustrating time in our lives. For us in the knife world we dream of new designs, steels and materials. Here is a list of things I would like to see come from CRK in 2017. I hope you all will share yours.
1. The re-introduction of the Annual Sebenza. The annuals were a very popular, limited run of knives with special inlays and I would love to see it brought back. Even in the form of the current inlay design, some limited edition woods would be special.
2. Carbon fiber Mnandi. No explanation needed. I'm not the world's biggest Mnandi fan, but I would buy one.
3. Either get Raindrop Damascus back to the old, tight pattern or replace it with something different. Seriously, the large smudges and lack of a true pattern on most of the current Raindrop is terrible. I just received in the last few days a knife I have had on order for quite a while, and the damascus is awful. Please get this corrected. PLEASE!
4. This is one that will frustrate a lot of people. Update the 21. The current design has been around since 2010 or maybe even late 2009. How about a ceramic ball in the lock bar, large lanyard pins that can remain in the knife without a lanyard, eliminate the machining hole and give a little room on the lock side for those with double thumb lugs?
5. Limited edition runs of damascus. Lets get back to those special patterns such as "Reptilian", "Bubblewrap", etc. I'd be all for ordering a knife with something that sets it apart from what everyone else has.
These are just my opinions and I'm sure some will think I'm crazy, but I look forward to hearing what others would like to see in this upcoming, exciting new year.
