CRK in 2017

From reading through this thread it seems some members are nostalgic about the original Sebenza design and resistant to change.

Newbie here just getting into Reeve's products. Wouldn't 2017 be the 30th anniversary of the Sebenza? Would there be a "Sebenza 30"? I know the sebenza 25 didn't go over that well (at least from my research) and was replaced by the very very similar inkosi.

I would like to see CRK in 2017 to continue making great products, excellent customer service and wish them all the best. They are truly one and only.Cheers.

I personally would love to see linen or paper micarta, or possibly even Westinghouse, added as an inlay option. A Mnandi with a Westinghouse Micarta inlay would be a dream knife for me.

The Sebenza 25 went over very with me. Love it!:)

Welcome to the forum nebulight:thumbup:

Some fantastic suggestions here... I would love to see a few things.

1.) Damascus Insingo
2.) One piece annual inlay on the 21 or anniversary regular run
3.) Different damascus options
4.) Insingo Inkosi
5.) Return of the old Mnandi nail nick
6.) Dealer exclusive stone washed handle plain jane 21

I just have two things I would love to see in 2017 and beyond:

1: Please DO NOT change the 21. It is perfect the way it is now, and needs to be available as is forever.

2: I am going to get greedy and ask for 2 new steel options + S35Vn (3V and 20CV)

I'll ask for the same thing I wanted when I got my first Sevenza probably 17+ years ago. A large regular Sevenza with the annual inlays, only in the canvas Micarta! Yes please! Lg. Annual Sevenza with micarta inlay!

A large Inkosi with an Umnumzaan style blade--that to me would be the very best of all worlds.
Also, update the Umnumzaan with the same clip as the Inkosi--off of the lockbar.
Third option: a small Umnumzaan!

This'll get some dandruff ruffled..Lg Inkosi annual!
Or at least one piece inlaid.

I'd love to see the one piece line re-expanded to some of it's old glory, I missed the boat on the one piece and by the time I was ready to try they were gone or at the very least untouchable. It's sad that a Chinese made Schrade is the only option.

For the Sebenza 30, I'd like to see a 21 with just a few updates: 1. M390 blade steel (that stuff is fantastic), 2. eliminate locating hole and layard pin & hole 3. use Inkosi-type standoff to facilitate lanyard attachment 4. blade shape similar to Inkosi but without the thicker stock 5. grip shape more towards Inkosi shape but NO FINGER GROOVES. I'd also like to see an optional milled pocket clip that was flat on the top (grip side) and CRK "double catch" shaped underneath, in blasted titanium and contoured like the Sebenza.

With the start of every new year brings a lot of hopes, desires and goals to all of our lives, and with a new incoming gov't administration, it can be an exciting or frustrating time in our lives. For us in the knife world we dream of new designs, steels and materials. Here is a list of things I would like to see come from CRK in 2017. I hope you all will share yours.

1. The re-introduction of the Annual Sebenza. The annuals were a very popular, limited run of knives with special inlays and I would love to see it brought back. Even in the form of the current inlay design, some limited edition woods would be special.

2. Carbon fiber Mnandi. No explanation needed. I'm not the world's biggest Mnandi fan, but I would buy one.

3. Either get Raindrop Damascus back to the old, tight pattern or replace it with something different. Seriously, the large smudges and lack of a true pattern on most of the current Raindrop is terrible. I just received in the last few days a knife I have had on order for quite a while, and the damascus is awful. Please get this corrected. PLEASE!

4. This is one that will frustrate a lot of people. Update the 21. The current design has been around since 2010 or maybe even late 2009. How about a ceramic ball in the lock bar, large lanyard pins that can remain in the knife without a lanyard, eliminate the machining hole and give a little room on the lock side for those with double thumb lugs?

5. Limited edition runs of damascus. Lets get back to those special patterns such as "Reptilian", "Bubblewrap", etc. I'd be all for ordering a knife with something that sets it apart from what everyone else has.

These are just my opinions and I'm sure some will think I'm crazy, but I look forward to hearing what others would like to see in this upcoming, exciting new year.

Completely agree with everything you wrote! In fact the old Raindrop was TOTALLY different, it was amazing.. I agree with limited editions of damascus and limited versions type Annual, one of the most fascinating things of CRK is: exclusivity..
Limited models with special materials and different damascus from the usual, perhaps with a stellar collaboration (I believe many great makers would be happy to cooperate with the CRK!!) should be sold immediately and would be highly appreciated by hardcore fans of Chris Reeve Knives.
Last thing: birthcard, NOT printed, but handwritten.. Handwriting communicates completely different feeling, of familiarity, the effort and commitment of a person who has taken time to write the birthcard..
And it is also nice to see how in the years have changed the scriptures.. Instead, printed characters communicate "cold", something machine made, with less heart..

Remove the "Idaho Made" stamp. Doesn't add any value. Chinese knock-offs still say "Idaho Made." It has always bugged me since they put it on. Make it clean again. No need for special snowflake s..t.

Just my meaningless opinion...

I agree. When they started doing that, it turned me off CRK's for a long time. But, when the Inkosi came out, I HAD to have one, and decided that I would just live with it.
