This is causing some lock stick. About 90% lock up. The knife is new to me and I've taken down a number of CRK knives but don't think this is something I can fix. Thinking of sending in for spa treatment and a fix. What say you?

Especially if it is sticking, I would send it to Idaho! They will get it fixed up for you:thumbup:

I've bent a few CRK bars, I know it's not recommended. To be safe send it back to the mothership.

I've only had one that developed stickiness.
Sent it in and they fixed it.

+1^^ Mine was about 80%. I seen the above video and it is very simple to do and worked for me. Mine now locks up at about 40% and has stayed there for quite a while.

Very cool Jack. Solved the sticky lock and went from a 90% late lock up to an acceptable 55-60%.

Thanks much and that's BF.

Flick that knife open solidly (like you should be doing after a reassembly anyway), and watch it go back to it's happy place at 90%.

Putting a bind on the parts isn't fixing anything.

Bummer, looks like you're right.

I 100% agree. It will adjust for a bit, but will go right back to where it wants to be.

With lockup like that, I question if the blade is original to the knife.

Edit: I didn't see your post EyeDog. That is a bummer. I'm going through something similar at the moment with my 21.

The lock up percentage shouldn't bother you. If the lockbar isn't touching the other side, it is fine. The stickiness is a bit of an annoyance. I have seen most other framelock manufacturers say that you should not have ANY lubrication on the lockface, for fear of making lock stick worse.

IIRC, CRK recommends a touch of grease on the lockface during assembly. It's worth a try. Worst case scenario, it might have to go back to the mother ship for a tune up (possibly a reheat on the lockbar)

I have had lock stick on two of my CRK's. One was brand new and the other is the one that I referred to above (with a non-original to the knife blade). On both of them, the lock stick went away eventually.

The reason I question if that blade is original to the knife is more because of the lock stick than the late lockup. On a broken in CRK, I think that a sticky lock is somewhat unusual. The fact that both symptoms are present, makes me wonder.

What is the birthday of the knife?

Thanks! Is there a "V" on the blade by the pivot hole? Mine has a S30V birth card and a S35vn blade. It's at CRK right now for a new blade.
