Mark V #62 Made in SA May/June 1987. Have a full history from Anne in an email. Never sharpened, still has some of the protective coating on the edge. A few scuffs from handling. Great shape for a 30 year old piece of CRK history.

From an email from Anne Reeve:

"The model name is MK V (roman numeral for 5). Number 62 Mk V was made in May/June 1987. The South Africa engraving was prompted by a previous shipment to the USA being stopped at customs because no country of origin was marked on any of the knives. We subsequently had a stamp made that indicated "Made in RSA" but the engraving as on your knife was a stop gap solution. The knife is made of A2 tool steel, Heat treated to 55-57RC, the butt cap is D65S Aluminum - or as we could have called it is SA, aluminium! The coating is KG GunKote (TM).

As best my memory serves as the story was told to us, that particular engraving was done in the USA under the scrutiny of Customs prior to the shipment being released.

If Chris had done the engraving, it would have been deeper because of the equipment he would have used. Where we did not have an appropriate piece of equipment, he would buy time on a machine from a local manufacturer where he knew most of the machinists! I believe that engraving is shallow - more like the product of a jeweller's engraving machine."
