crk or not

well, i bit the bullet. i bought a cr large sabenza with micarta inlays. it is bigger than i expected, not so much the length, but the girth. even the blade is very thick, wow. nice item. i have not taken any pix yet, but here are some i found online that are exactly like mine...

when i get a chance i will post some super hi-res pics of it.

all in all, this knife is amazing. great quality. i am just amazed. i will definitely hand this down to my daughter some day.

hopefully this is the last knife i ever need to buy.

does the titanium handle ever scratch?

how long has crk been around? i am just inquiring if his knives have appreciated any.

biggerjon, congrats on your purchase. As you use your Sebenza, your appreciation of the knife will even increase. I'm in my 15th year of EDCing a large Sebenza (a classic for the 1st 3 years, and a regular the rest of the time). The design is perfect, and the precise operation of my 13 year-old EDC is as good now as it was on day 1.

CRK has been in business since 1984. Others can comment on CRK knife appreciation better than I; however, one example would be the Umfaan, which is a small version of the Sebenza that was discontinued several years ago. The original price of the Umfaan escapes my memory -- must have been mid-to-high $2XX. I've seen used ones going for ~$600.

A Sebenza is not a financial investment. Use it to get your money's worth. There is nothing wrong with buying one already used, especially at first. You save some money, and hesitate less to use it.

I suggest spending some time on the www.chrisreeve.com website. Look around, read some of the technical details, see what else they can do for you, like refurbishing a knife that gets really beaten up.

The handles will scuff, which gives them a pattern analogous to the stonewash finish of the blade.

I have a few sebbies that I've had for about 7 years. All work as if they are new. As far as re-sale goes, I'm sure they would fetch a respectable amount. You really can't go wrong, enjoy it.

i am not looking for an investment. i want a knife that i can keep for 20 years and maybe, just maybe it will be worth more than when i bought it. kind of like the above statement.

i plan on using this knife just like every other edc i've had. i can't get over how much i love this knife.

thanks all for all of your input.:D
