CRK scale marks!!!

I’m gonna have to vary from my CRK homies and admit I do feel the finish on their scales could be more durable and better at not having or hiding snail trails. I actually appreciate a good finish that does a good job hiding wear n tear. And the CRK’s definitely show wear and tear the easiest and most prevalent of all my ti folders.

However, it’s no deal breaker and in full disclosure I am a crk newb just getting started so that opinion could certainly change. I do see the other side of appreciating a well worn in knife and one thing I have quickly learned is that crk’s only get better with age and use. And I do think the finish on the blade is excellent and does a good job hiding signs of use.
I think your second paragraph nailed it. Like a leather jacket or nice pair of boots they get better with break-in and patina. I’m sure CRK could figure out a finish that showed less wear but perhaps it wouldn’t have the same hand-feel or traction or would wear-in less attractively. To me the finish is a “personality trait” not a “defect.”

You’re right that their finish does provide more grip than my other ti knives which is certainly a plus.

I also want snail trails. What do I need to do to get snail trails?
Snail trails are so cool.

Does it count if I wipe my nose in my sleeve and I get nice shiny snail trail?

Titanium scales show wear, and that's just part of the proof of carry. My inkosi is all kinds of marked up as is my Spartan SHF. Tools should be carried and used, and there are few knives I find more lovely than plain Jane CRKs that have been shown a lot of love.

Can't wait to see how yours looks after a few years.
