For some reason lately, I have been kinda bugged by the CRK I have let go over the years. This has nothing to do with the skyrocketing prices they are now fetching. But strictly to do with the, I can't believe I had that one and let it go.....!!! I have mentioned off and on that I have owned 95 CRK and am curious to see which #100 will be. Will it be a special grail, or just a plain 21 that caught my eye....??? Once I hit #100, I will make a list of all the ones I have had and my thoughts on them ( it will be a lengthy thread....lol ). One forum member stated that he wants to see lots of pics. Perhaps thats what made me go through my years of photobucket and flickr to see the ones I let go. Oh CRK memory lane is a special thing....lol

Most of the ones I let go were to fund more CRK, so I am pretty okay with that. I have never been much of a trader ( got burned on one of them, that cured me ). For the longest time, my personal policy was to only Sell a CRK to buy another CRK. I stood by that for years......I did sell several off to buy the dozen Rick Hinderer XM's that I have owned. ALL of those I deeply regret because they were some of my One Piece Knives and mnandi.

So now I am at the point to where I feel I just will not sell any more of my CRK collection and will only Add to it. ( Sorry Guys....lol )

SOOOO, How many of my forum buddies have had CRK Sellers Remorse....????????????

Good read. Thanks for sharing and I can't wait for the "100th". I've never sold a CRK and I don't plan on it, but can't say for sure. (But it's not likely I'd sell either). I've sold other knives and have very little remorse but I never thought of those like I think of my CRK. I see those others as my stepping stone to CRK and now that I've found CRK (& Hinderer) I think I'm pretty content. Might get a Mnandi and/or a Nyala at some point but right now I'm pretty content.

I wish I could keep them all, but do have some major regrets.

I once owned a clip less large "P" that had been re-bladed by CRK with a BG-42 "regular" style blade when the original blade broke. This was in the days before the Classic and the "P" was a little more common then, I had several Sebenzas and wanted to expand my collection so I traded it. Huge mistake, it was an awesome knife with a unique profile, the best of both worlds.

I would hazard a guess that it would be easier to count the people that DON"T have sellers remorse.
Buy a CRK and for whatever reason, they don't like it, so they sell it.

Oh yes..I have sellers remorse..Had a fair number of the one piece line at one point. Sold most of them to fund some schooling. At the time I sold them, the one piece line was going strong. Imagine my dismay to find them discontinued and NOT have the funds to replace or pick up the few that were being gobbled up.

I sold my old school pivot S30v Umnumzaan Tanto a while back to pay some bills and I now regret that a lot! I will hopefully be able to replace it with another soon...or even a standard blade old pivot S30 would be nice...

I can't believe I sold a large River of Fire! I don't even remember why or what I did with the money. Stupid! Also regret selling my small annual Wenge ... Those two hurt the most.

I do collect for a hobby. For me, it's like if someone is looking or needs a deal on a knife and I've got what they want, I don't mind helping out. I try not to look back at some of the foolish decisions I've made. Since I've been collecting knives, the only brand that I consider grail material is my CRK collection, the others are sweet but I can part from them at the drop of a hat. I try to rotate some in my collection to keep the collection at a manageable level.

The one I regret is the first one I owned. It was a year 2000 Classic UG with BG-42.
I have two others with BG-42, but wish I had kept my first CRK.

Soon after I joined BF in 2005 I traded it for a Busse that I later sold.
The Busse motto of "No Regrets" doesn't always apply, as I still have regrets over that trade.

As you folks know I am somewhat pixilated when it comes to Chris Reeve Folders. I like them a lot.. I mean a lot!! Especially the Umnumzaan and the large Regular's.. and well you know what I mean. But sometimes I just sell a couple. Most just by contacting a fellow member here or on one of the other forums who is looking for a particular knife. I really enjoy having them and as you know I love sharing them with the group here on the forum. But sometimes I just decide that I have enjoyed the hunt so to speak.. and now its time to move on.. and let someone else enjoy having it too. So I never really regret getting rid of one... at least not yet... I did have a RED Blade Knives "Pig" that I sold and regret it!! But I found another one last week!! :D So how many of you have never heard the word pixilated before?? ;) I will give you a hint.. its from a movie..
All the best, Dave

I have. I sold my very first decorated small Seb many years ago and have been looking for it ever since.

MikePapa1 posted a pic that might be it a month or so back but it's been so long since I owned it that I can't be sure. I called it Stripe because of a bold blue stripe on the handle but all my old pics went toes up when I lost a hard drive several years ago. :(

Funny how I, a Southpaw, would miss a right-handed small decorated Sebenza that I would have some difficulty opening because of the abundance of experience I have with left-handed CRKs. LOL!

I regret letting go my star tac zaan, and also my 1995 small with the ats blade. Luckily I have held on to all of my annuals or those would be top of my regret list!

I miss a lot of them. I have rebought many of the same configuration that I had sold. But I have also rebought two that were the exact same knife that I had let go. A small regular unique and a numbered zircote Mnandi. I've sice resold the rebought Mnandi, but I will always have the unique. The one I miss the most is a beautiful bocote Mnandi with high contrast raindrop damascus, the best I've seen.

I'm sorry to hear about the remorse for those that had to sell them for whatever reason.

Thank God, I haven't had to, nor wanted to sell any of the CRK's I've owned to date. Of course that doesn't mean that if I pick up a double I might not let it go, idk. So far I've been lucky.

And hopefully none of you fine forum members will ever have to let another one go...:D

Take care.

I have 3 that I regret letting go. Small numbered #31 I know where it lives and who knows maybe, a large left clipless P and a old pivot Star tac. I am not a collector but I would love to have the #31 the most just to look at.

In my case I am fairly new to knife acquiring / collecting and the wonderful world of Chris Reeve Knives. The CRK I have sold were to fund other CRK.
Fortunately, I do not miss the ones that have been sold, and appreciate what I have even more. I have focused my interest in only 2-3 different CRK
styles.

Remorse? No seller's remorse, but I can say that I still feel a bit guilty for spending on the knives. I have too many other kind of expensive hobbies / interests.
Still, if the opportunity presents itself to acquire a much wanted knife........if the price makes sense, I will buy it.

Good post Nyefmaker!

Never sold one, but I lost a large 21 blue dog paws. I felt remorse after that.

I lost a Large Silver Dog Paws recently. I am having severe remorse over that one. I feel like I was careless in the fact I lost it. I always had like 4 CRK folders laying there and would just grab one. I moved and when I was at my new location is when I realized it was missing. I don't remember what I used it for last either. Just thinking about it, I should look on my " what did you use your sebenza for today " thread.... Lol. Maybe it will spark something. I am also missing my xtar light, so I am thinking they are together somewhere as I always carried them together.

I guess losing a CRK would cause remorse and grief. Just for the fact that you didn't get anything for it.

I hope you both find your dog paws very soon.

I've only sold a small regular unique with BG 42 that you sold to sold to another BF member, Tom aka Nyfemaker. No remorse about it at all. I do have buyers remorse about a couple of

nib and almost nib large regulars that I just can't use............

I've let a few gems go, like my former "H" a pristine "P", Mnandis that were amazing looking. I miss them sometimes, but most of the CRKs I sell go to other CRK enthusiasts so that takes the sting out.
