I'm on the fence! Pretty much decided on a large Insingo. It might take a while to find a newer used one. :(

Either way you will be delighted, just a matter of how much cash you are willing to let go off.
Personally I tend to get them new as their resell value stays pretty good. If you are not happy with your purchase, worst case scenario you lose $20. Best case scenario, you have a new knife...:)

If it were me I would look for one here in the exchange.
That way you can be sure it is genuine and not terribly modified.

Also it will be all broken in and smooth.

Stay away from feebay.

If you decide to buy new make sure to check the authorized dealer list on the Crk website before you pull the trigger.

I'd pick a used one up that hasn't seen too much use. Alot of people buy new, and then quickly turn around and sell them for whatever reason.

My first Sebenza was a brand new micarta that I bought from Plaza Cutlery. So I had to pay CA sales tax on top of it and it ended up being around $500 bucks.
I really should have bought a used one off the exchange and expected to pay around $350(before price increase). But no regrets since that day was a great memory
of my first trip to plaza and my first ever Sebenza.

The more I buy used, the more I become partial to the idea of buying new.

My first was second hand. I don't think you would regret buying from a reputable member here on the forum.

If you have handed it and are sure of it, I see no reason not to get a new one.
Besides the price you can save the experience of the first scratch and therefore put it directly to use, if you buy used.
Good Luck with your search.

The combination of being a germaphobe and desiring the peace of mind that comes with purchasing from an authorized dealer means I only buy new when it comes to knives.

I'm 50/50 new vs used on my CRK purchases. I haven't had a bad experience purchasing from the forum's exchange section. That said, it is my plan to purchase new in the future, for the most part. I like the idea of knowing the history of a knife and all that it has been through.

i bought new since i was looking for carbon fiber and those dont come up for sale often.

i would buy used if the photos were nice and the price was a savings

So far, I own one CRK , a small Sebe which I purchased about 8 years ago on the "bay' for a bit over 100 bucks~gently used. It arrived looking flawless and I have put it through hell and back and it's still smooth as butter although needs a good sharpening by someone with more skills than I have. Probably going to send it to CRK for a spa treatment but even that makes me stop and think.
Had I purchased BNIB from CRK, I probably would still have the damn thing BNIB because it would have broken my heart to use a pristine and expensive knife like that and worry about the first scratch, ding, chip. I'm retarded in that aspect but am getting better.
So, for a user,I would look for used at a decent price~they do come around;I've seen them here, and enjoy it.

Go new and use it....

1st Sebenza I ever bought was brand new and went straight into my pocket.

It's still there :D:thumbup:

Used is good for when you become a collector, then obviously your going after the rare ones. When your just starting get new.

I think you will have a bit more enjoyment of owning that first one if you are the first owner. All the memories made with it will be yours, any food prep will be your food, any little battle scars on it will be yours. If you pass it down to one of your children when the time comes, they can know that dad bought it and was the only user of it. I can go on justifying this new purchase for you all day if need be :)

Just received a "like new" knife with a stripped clip screw so now I have changed my mind; buy new whenever possible.
