CRK Smoothest Deployment... which one?

My well broken in small regular annual is my smoothest opener, but I had a Wilson combat zaan that was a close second before I traded it.

I recently returned from an environmental drilling job working in caustic ash. The ultra-fine stuff was blowing about constantly and getting into everything.

Every time I used my knife, I realized a terrible gritty feeling. So upon returning home, I took it down and realized that there was NO grease left inside. All the internals were bone-dry, so I cleaned and lubed everything and re-assembled and this large 21 is the smoothest CRK I have handled. Perhaps not a typical break-in method, but every caustic cloud has a silver lining, I suppose;)

I had a small Classic that was the smoothest knife period I've ever owned. It was on par with a ball bearing flipper I have. A very close second is my umnum. My 25 is smooth but not like those two and I had and sold a
Regular with a sticky lock which was smooth but not butter smooth.

I found that I was inadvertently pushing the lock bar and detent ball into the detent with my index finger. Essentially pinching it closed and then trying to push harder with my thumb to get it out of the detent. Once I figured that out and adjusted my grip such that I was on the frame and not the lockbar, things were much improved. I think it's just more pronounced on the smaller models as you are more likely to be pushing more on the lockbar with your index finger.

My large Sebenzas (plain jane 21 and a mammoth bark 21) are smoother and easier to open than my small Sebenzas.
While not one-handers, my two Mnandis are buttery smooth and a pleasure to open and close.
