CRK&T Hisshou

Glad to hear that! I'm thinking I may go ahead and order this one at months end, which is usually when I do my knife buying. I wonder if the two Chinese characters on the front side of the blade stand for China?

I added those pictures to the last post on page one of this thread.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the display box. This thing is burly and well made! The interior is a dense padded foam with a nice velvet surface, not that crappy blow-molded flocked plastic. The two sides are aligned perfectly and it closes with a satisfying "Thup!" Very nice, but what the hell am I going to do with it? The knife didn't even ship in it, but rather in a cardboard sleeve next to it and the kydex sheath. It's too bulky for the gun safe and would look stupid on the coffee table. I may have my ashes put in it rather than a coffee can like in the Big Lebowski. Ha ha! Given the choice, I'd rather they had spent the money for the box on menuki for the handle instead.

You've heard the joke about the M symbol on BMW cars?

Q: What does the "M" stand for?
A: "Marketing"!

Supposedly the characters translate as "Certain Victory" but, much like the BMW M is supposed to mean Motorsport, I think "Marketing" comes pretty close!

Never heard that about BMW before. I do appreciate your pics though. They seem to have pushed me over the edge as I have gone ahead and sent my regular knife purchasing store an email about holding me a Hisshou until the 30th, along with the Blade-Tech Magnum MLEK w/foliage green handles that he is ordering for me!:)

Just got a confirmation that a Hisshou is being held until the 30th.

Closeup of the spine. The collar is a fairly solid plastic and feels very durable.

I'm surprised that the collar is made from plastic as I would have thought that with the higher quality and price of this knife it would use something more in line with the overall cost of the knife.

I'm also already thinking that some micarta grips would really look nice on this and since it is a full tang they would not be difficult to make.

I thought a more traditional treatment would be nice, including some menuki, but I suppose it get's away from the practical tactical aspect they were shooting for. You're right about the full tang being a perfect foundation for a great set of handle slabs!

In the original pics of this knife it showed it with a turks head knot. When I recieved mine I found it to be a hard plastic or nylon piece like on the smaller stainless steel Hissatsu.

Although I would have prefered the turks head instead of the plastic piece the handle feels good and provides a secure grip

Hmmm... not very impressed with that sort of cheap fittings on a knife with a list price of over $300. I would have expected brass or at least aluminum. I"m still on the fence about this knife, and this is one more strike against it.
