Hey CRK fans! As you all know by now I am a big fan of anything CRK (FOLDERS) especially the older stuff. But now and again I stray from the path of the Sebenza-Umnumzaan-Mnandi and of course my beloved Umfaan's. (My Avatar) To that point I have not seen too many posts of late on the Ti-Lock... I of course had to have one and then I found out that the earlier versions (I'm not sure when exactly the first production models were shipped) had a different (Blasted) finish on the handles than those in current production. So of course when one of these earlier versions became available a few weeks ago I had to have it....:) (THANKS DAVE) So I thought I would share my Ti-Locks with the Forum. I have heard that there was a Prototype?? I sure hope not.. Not another Ti-Lock to search for..
Any comments and or observations from my friends and mentors here are very welcome!!
UPDATE: THANKS TO A VERY GENEROUS FELLOW MEMBER (THANKS SCOTT) Ti-Lock Production Prototype #10/25 is inbound!! :D

Always wanted to play with one, but never seen one in person. Or the umnum.

How do you like them? They do look very nice.

Thanks HwangJino!! They are pretty, and they are sharp. I don't really know.. I think you have to really appreciate the engineering as well as the quality that went into the development and manufacturing of the Ti-Lock.. I wouldn't say its a knife that you would take on a camping trip but I am sure there are those here who have much more experience than I on the everyday use of these works of art.

I am intrigued by its 'studs', I remember reading they roll on top of the scale.

im sure eventually ill get one.

Im starting to realize that you have to pick these up before crk stops making them.

Yes it is definitely different than any other CRK. I guess I should mention the Designers Grant & Gavin Hawk (I hope I have that right) this was a collaboration of there Ti-Lock design with Chris Reeve. There are quite of few good and not so good videos on YouTube about the knife. Check them out! And thanks for your comments!!
All the best,

handled it a couple times at a show, I really like it! awesome blade profile

trying to get one too, had to come by (besides at full price)
love both the blasted and the all stonewashed one

nice pair

The first 50-60 had the Sand Blasted finish like a sebenza has. After that, they went to the current stonewashed finish. This info came straight from CRK as I asked them about it when I first got my Ti-Lock as mine was stonewashed. So the blasted ones are somewhat rare.

Your right Mad_Maxx the blades are awesome!! The design is to say the least "Unique" and of course CRK's typical craftsmanship.. They are pricey though, retail $475.00 as usual I was lucky and got both of mine at a slight discount. Yea I'm liking them.. different.

As always nyefmaker we can count on your vast knowledge of CRK history for very interesting facts!! I did not know there were so few of the "Blasted" finish made. Thanks for the great information!! As seen in the photos the date on the card for the "Blasted" finish Ti-Lock is March 31, 2011 does anyone have one with an earlier date? it would be interesting information. I purchased a 25 from a gentleman in Southern California who told me that he had owned a Prototype... any information on those would also be very interesting..
All the best,

Your more than welcome.

That's a nice pick up! I've been looking for one of the blasted ones for a while now.

I love the Ti lock, it's one of the best CRKs IMO.

Thanks lemmuhj! I actually got the blasted version right here on Bf in a trade. I noticed that it had the blasted finish in the pictures posted and since I already had the stonewash version I figured what the heck! I honestly did not know they made so few of them until nyefmaker mentioned it in his post. Makes me like it even more. "Even a Blind Pig finds an Acorn once in a while"

Congrats on your pretty score!!

Its a great knife. Had one for little over a year now, and l absolutely love it!
Handling it sure takes some getting used to.
l cursed pretty hard when l first used it, and my thumb was sore for a few days:-(
But once l got the hang of it, it really grew on me

The ergos are brilliant, it packs one hell of a blade in a very subtle handle, and, lets be honest, it is a really functional work of art.

Have fun with yours :-D

I think you hit the nail right on the head NvG79!! "it is a really functional work of art." An amazing little knife!!

I've never handled a Ti-Lock, but am very curious now. Nice acquisitions mikepapa1.

Thats what I here Steve, the gentelman I purchased a 25 from said that he purchased one and then sold it for $650.00.. I felt a little regret in his voice.
As always thanks for the Great Informaion!!
All the best, Dave

Yep, there were prototypes. Not sure how many, maybe 20-25 And they retailed a lot less than the 'Zaan proto, too. :)

Thanks Taonari!! Yea, give um a look!! Maybe one of the most under appericated folders to come from our friends in Boise.
All the best!!
