CRK vs Others in 2024

I think it’s hard to form a real opinion on a CRK until you’ve had one. Or five. I used to find them a little plain too until one lived in my pocket for a decade. They excel at cutting tasks, reliability, and serviceability. They don’t excel at fidgeting with while watching tv.

Not popular due to registration, but Rocksteads are impressive. If you would end up buying multiple CRK's or equivalents consider a Rockstead. They Higo and Hizen are fantastic folders. I don't sell my knives so registering it was not an issue for me.

Honestly I think a big part of CRK has always been finding the right model for you. I didn’t really ever fall in love with any Sebenza, but the Inkosi is a different story. The Insingo moreso..

Heck, there are some people that hate the plain janes and only like CRK with inlays. There’s also people who are the other way around. Some people don’t like the insingo, some people don’t like the drop point, some people love the tanto.

Problem is they are an expensive thing to buy and try. Good thing about it is; they hold their value fairly well.

CRK is still at the top of the food chain when it comes to production folders.
There is a lot of truth to this statement. I own and carry an SHF, a Satu, a TSF Gorgon and others. With that in mind, I always go back to my Lg 21 Sebenza Insingo.

A rebranded Chinese-OEM knife isnt in the same league as a Sebenza, or any other CRK folder. There's plenty of documentraies available showcasing the brand adn the work that goes into their product.

I’ve always considered Rockstead but for close to $1,000 I would probably die if I accidentally dropped it or chipped the edge.

Just keep using it. One of mine has chips and I just keep going. Rocksteads has confirmed they will repair mine.
Hmm that’s good to know. I am plenty satisfied with my CRKs to not want a knife double the cost for the time being.

Yeah, that's good to hear. Just for curiosity sake, are you the original registered owner of the one you talked to them about? They sure are beautiful knives.

yes.

They will repair knives that you're not the OG purchaser. friend of mine broke their lockbar in their shin, they replaced it was like 90 bucks all said and done. cleaned it, lubed it and shipped back.

Just curious, how’d they manage to break the lockbar?

There will always be CRK detractors who'd rather have flippers, bearings, the steel of the week, etc. There will always be CRK fans who love the simple, timeless design, ease of maintenance, phenomenal customer service, and their ability to hold their value.

Personally, the brand longevity, the plethora of lefty options, and the other attributes above are why I have more from CRK than any other brand in my collection. If you like them, buy them. If not, then there are lots of other options out there.

CRK knives just feel nice. Not like ergonomics, but when I hold one and manipulate it, it's like I can feel the quality. It's hard to explain, but there is just a feeling of solidity and refinement. There is just something about them. I get the same feeling from my Hinderers. They just feel like they are a cut above other knives. And it's not a psychological thing because of the price point because I own, and have owned, many other knives in the same price point, but CRK and Hinderer just stand out IMO.
