CRK Warranty Experience--Need advice

I can see why this would bother the OP. I had a Spyderco Leafstorm with the same issue, (the Leafstorm used a similar pivot-bushing setup as the Sebenza)...I took the knife apart, polished the washers on both sides, flip them, then clean the blade and scales with soap and water. After reassembly it was 100% back to center, not sure if this helps but good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion. I wouldn't want to risk removing too much metal from the bushings. At most, I'll probably use the black compound and a strop to polish it and minimally remove some metal. Also what did you mean by flip them?

Its good that you got a quick email response, but I know that's not what you wanted. I would call and talk to them personally about it. Ask for Heather if you can as she is the best there, aside from Mr. & Mrs. Reeve of course. I know some of the other girls change there from time to time and none of them know as much as Heather does, Trust Me. Not to take anything away from the other girls, but they just don't know nearly as much as Heather, as she has been doing it the longest.

Also, DO NOT attempt to fix it yourself, by sanding anything the bushings, the blade, the scale, anything. The second you do, your warranty is voided. This has been seen time and again from Mr. Reeve.

Call them, talk to them, tell them you wanna send it back and have it fixed properly as you feel the first time, it was not done properly. Tell them that you don't feel you should pay return shipping as it should have been taken care of the first time, or at least you should have been called and notified before it was returned to you. I know your busy, but Make Time. Its not like you will be on the phone with them for a hour. It will only take 5-10 minutes of your time.

^ I would suggest doing what nyefmaker said.

I don't think that would bother me much, but then again I've never had a Sebenza that wasn't dead center.
Good luck.

BTW- did you think about telling the seller you want your money back ? Per BFC rules if you are not happy in any way you should be given a refund. Not sure how much time has passed, so it may be to late for that now.

Thanks for the quick response. I will make sure I call them by this week, probably in the morning before I have classes. Should I request to speak Heather or a certain individual should someone else answer the phone? And to Ken44 I already talked to the original seller awhile back and he thought the knife was centered--I don't know if he's lying or not, but regardless, I always give the benefit of the doubt.

Make sure you call them by Thursday, because as far as I know, they are still working Mon-Thur. 10 hour days. They are closed fri-sun. Anytime I had an issue, I spoke to Heather. I will not go into the 3 warranty issues I had in my 70+ CRK's that I have owned, but I will say, Heather has been instrumental in the fix of all 3 of them. She has been there the longest and knows her knives and believe me, has heard of probably every issue with a sebenza you could think of and then some.....lol. On 2 of the occasions, I even spoke to Mr. Reeve himself, and once was from his home, which absolutely amazed me. This company stands behind their products, so your in good hands..............The one thing Mr. Reeve always told me, was that he was thankful that I came to them FIRST, rather than blast an issue all over the forums. You have done that, so I am in no way speaking about this thread, but there are other who havent.

Like I said, talk to them, they will make it right, I am sure of it.

I don't believe I made any accusations, I tried to give the best view of my situation although I am slightly disappointed. I guess perhaps I should have held off on this thread for a bit, but this is my first CRK and I went here just for advice and suggestion, all of which were very good. Had I posted in the GB&U....well that would be a different story. At this point I feel fairly confident that CRK will take care of me, but I'm not sure if I want to send it back and wait, or just sell the knife to fund other knives I have interest in??

I dont think you have, this thread has been pretty clean and professional and has been free of the trolls that just love this kinda thing. But like I said, call them and give them a chance, that will tell you far more than any email ever will. In my experience with them, they are the best at what they do and their CS is just as good.

I tried to keep the tone as calm and neutral as possible. Had I come in here with accusations for a well defined disappointment...well that's when the fan-boys and trolls come out. There is a custom knifemaker that I've been following for awhile and I may want to grab one of his knives. I'll probably hold on to my CRK for a month or so, wait for his 3.5 inch flipper to come out, and then determine whether I want his knife more than the CRK or vice verse--with regards to custom service, quality, and value. It doesn't make much sense for me to send it in if I end up selling the knife. Regardless I'll try to give CRK a call and see their opinion and what they would do with the situation. From there I'll see if I really want to send in the knife or not.

Update:

I will be calling CRK tomorrow either before or after my classes. nyefmaker has been extremely helpful throughout this ordeal both from PM and in this thread and the CRK community should be glad to have him. I'll admit, I'm still rather upset about this entire situation and the unhelpful response I received to my email. Hopefully a call will clear things up and I'll be sure to let you guys know how things turn out.

It is likely that I will be sending in my CRK again, so I'm not too happy about that at all. Regardless, I'm not making any accusations yet, and I await to see how CRK CS will asses my situation

I personally think you should spend less time judging the members of this forum and more time just enjoying the knives. You have brought this up with nearly every post you have made and it looks like you are trying to goad people into reacting the way you keep asking them not to. The CRK forum very rarely spirals into a "troll fest" or "fan boy beat down" and this constant reminding is quite unnecessary. With all due respect, of course. :)

You're probably right. I was a bit paranoid, and I probably did repeat myself one too many times. As of recent, I disassembled the knife and re-lubed it and the centering marginally improved. I think I probably should worry less and just enjoy the knife. My apologies to CRK and the forum for getting too worked up. I'm going to close this thread for the time being, and I'll open up a new one if I have any updates.
