CRKT apparently has a newly released Bugout

I check out the knives at cabelas (bass pro) once in awhile, I laugh at Benchmade and keep it moving. They must be selling enough to stay in business? If they weren't they wouldn't make it public anyway. Plenty of companies go in the red and don't send out a newsletter to announce it.

Everything in general has gotten more expensive to include knives. Speaking for me I have stopped buying knives unless they are something that really gets my interest. It has to be special enough for me to pay these higher prices.

Looks like everyone is getting onto the Axis bandwagon. That looks quite similar to Buck's Pro 791.
Oh yeah, as soon as the AXIS patent expired, the crossbar lock has been everywhere. Further, I have many knives with crossbar locks that feature better action than any Benchmade I've ever owned. That's progress!

BM sells over a million knives a year, and holds a huge margin of the market place for units that cost 100+ bucks. Their pricing/marketing strategy isn't detrimental to them. And that's not including Govt sales and contracts.

The problem i see is that when a specific knife keeps climbing in price but stays the same overall - the question then becomes at what point does the quality of the knife no longer match the price? (Irregardless if people keep buying it)

Looks like a solid design, although the absence of a thumb stud is odd.

This and the Bugout are pretty generic designs. I wouldn’t consider it a “copy”.
