CRKT collectors?

Investigator,

I carry and use a custom TNT everyday. I don't worry about losing or breaking it. I doubt it would break unless severly abused, and at that long after your CRKT broke. As far as cutting crap with it and dulling the edge, well that's why I have sharpening gear. I have also used my Sebenza as an EDC, and will be adding a DDR 3.5" EDC into the rotation as soon as it is finished. I see nothing wrong with using expensive knives.

After using and carrying these knives for any time a CRKT just doesn't do it for me anymore, and I wouldn't carry them as my EDC. Or collect them for that matter.

I have a few CRKT's
Crawford/ Kasper folder
K.I.S.S. 5500
Bwana knife
M16-14M
Commander
Prowler
Ryan 7
Plan B

No, really, I'm not a collector :) But, CRKT makes knives, to me, that have a bang for your buck. There designs are funtional and at a cost that makes them great beaters and nothing to worry about if lost.

im actually thinking of getting one of the m16's to use a work horse, cutting plastic straps, light prying, de-barking wood, that sort of thing, any input on what type of blade is best? i was thinking of getting the tanto but i like the spearpoint to.

I love the CRKT's that I have. I think they provide the best Bang for the Buck out there. Having said that I will also state that I have lots of other knives (including plenty of Customs) and I EDC one of several Spydercos quite often.

I don't collect CRKT's knives, meaning I don't purchase them in order to keep them NIB and put them in the safe. I purchase CRKTs with the single intent to use them and I certainly do get enjoyment from every one that I have!!

I agree about the designs, thats what is so great about them. My favorite is the Kasper/Crawford folder.

How about a CRKT collectors club?? BUT I would not expect the knives to increase in value just because you keep them NIB. I think a club like that would be filled with folks who would share great stories about how they have used their knives and the praise that they have for the innovative designs and workmanship.

CRKT user's club!
Hey, we should try to get CRKT on the boards, maybe we could convince them to use decent steel

Well I do have quite a few users from CRKT, I do have two knives that I would call collectible from them.
The Lakes P.A.L. with AUS8 steel, piston lock and nice bone handles and the 2002 Viele Wasp Limited edition with AUS 118 steel.Warncliff Blade..carbon fibre scales...Swiss Made to boot.
I would call both of these Knives collectable! :p

Kap :D

What's special about the AUS8 PAL?
Imma pull my M16 Plain Edge sans LAWKS outta the box to use. (It already has a scratch for being displayed or something) (Wanted to find another one like it)

Well I guess its not  "special" as in limited edition or what have you, but I think its the nicest looking knife that CRKT has ever produced.
I just like the old school bone combined with a unique piston lock!
This was another one of their "custom" production models and it looks damn fine.........its one of my EDC's!

Cheers,
Kap

Ahh!
KitCarson, if you're reading this, can you convince CRKT to make plain edged M16s again, PLEASE?

My favorite is still probably the KFF. That knife was very comfortable in the hand.

Yeah, I hate the combo edge... not enough of either type of blade to be effective at anything...

seconded.

p.s. anyone know if alumahyde II would work well if i sprayed down the blade/liners of my prolwer with it?

The KFF with skeletonized aluminum handle and the Hammond Cruiser are my two favorites. Both fit very nicely into one's hand, and it makes me feel just a little more secure having one of them in my pocket walking through my city. In an adverse situation, it would be very difficult to accidently drop one of these knives.
