I have here a CRKT G.W. Hawk D.O.G., model number 4514.

Does anyone know what type of coating this knife has? I would like to strip one, and if it's possible with chemicals I'd prefer to start there. I tried rubbing lacquer thinner on it for a while with no effect. If I can strip it chemically, do I need something else? Let it soak longer? Or am I doomed to sand? I know it's long discontinued and not all that popular, but maybe someone out there knows something about this knife.

Maybe paint stripper from the can will work, Need to wear latex gloves and be outside.
