CRKT didn't totally screw up 2005...

Steve, I'm aware that these are Crawford desings. But the strange scales plus the brown (what is that acid etch?) writing on the blade just makes it look like a cheap, lower quality, knife. But who knows. Maybe these are going to be uber comfortable and will just get snatched off the shelves.
I just kinda doubt it.

I wish there were holes in the Wild Weasle's scales like the original Crawford Perfigo. Is the Voodoo based on an original Crawford design?

No, the WW looks like the Crawford Perfigo, which I've liked for a long time. It's just a lot of money to spend :)

De gustibus non est disputandum.

is it supposed to look like a perfigo, like the kasper was supposed to look like a kasper? if so they didnt do a very good job, the kasper looks a lot like a custom kasper, the weasal doesnt look much like a perfigo to me at all, maybe just a little bit on the butt, but not much.

$130.00 is too much for a 420HC knife. I can see using the steel for knives in the $40.00 range, but that's about it.

For $30.00 LESS, you could go buy a Spyderco Military that has a better handle and MUCH better steel.

I like them both and the steel doesn't bother me. I just wish they would have went with machine satin instead of bead blast

The over $100 premium version CRKT Howard Veile Wasps with AUS 118 steel did not sell so they were discontinued. I noticed the CRKT M16-14 titanium versions have MSRP over $100 but brand new in box M16-14T are only selling for around $60 on ebay. These CRKT Crawfords are over priced in my opinion.

Buck Strider charges $200 for their fixed blades in 420
There is a HUGE differnece between the 420HC that Buck uses and the 420J2 that CRKT is switching to. Furthermore, I don't think I've ever heard a complaint about the Buck/Strider collabs.

You must have never handled the Buck/Strider Tarani. It has the FLIMSIEST liners I have EVER seen and they usually go all the way to the right :barf: Great design, but they dropped the ball on the execution of that one. This comes from handling several of this model

Also, Garage Boy was refering to 420HC on the above models not 420J2

this is news to me. i got the chance to check out a B/S spear point that was rather nice, felt robust and all... but i've never handled the Tarani, just admired it from afar.

Yeah, the other Buck Strider folders I have handled were tanks, but not so with the Tarani :(

I think these were initially made in 154cm if I am not mistaken. So if anything they cheapened the knife by using 420hc. keepem sharp

The Viele Wasps are my Fav CRKTs--they were pretty nice knives. I do not think CRKT will do well in the $130 knife market next to BM and Spyderco....
