CRKT Dogfish

Yes the sheath wears out fast. If you use it often, after a month or so,and you still plan on using it as a necker you will need to replace the sheath.

I passed mine on to my son, the factory sheath still serves fine for pocket carry. But any sharp jolt will drop the knife as a necker.

I got mine to fall out a few minutes ago but it took jerking hard on it repeatedly for a minute, I think I would either have to be in a multiple roll-over wreck, riding a bronco, or falling down a mountainside to reproduce that action on my body...but it is still pretty new. The kydex is thinner than my other sheaths so it may wear quicker but the thin, light weight is one of the draws to it. If/when it starts loosening to the point it starts falling out I'll heat it and modify it. If that doesn't work I'll just have Marion make a sheath for it. He did a great job on the retention of the Izula sheath I wear around my neck when I'm teaching classes.

I just picked up a Kabar Remora and a CRKT Folts Minimalist. The Dogfish lost out to the slightly better steel in the Folts. I am looking at small blades like this for just the purpose you describe, and so far have had good results. Ultimately these are going to end up in static kits instead of around my neck, because I just can't get used to carrying a neck knife, even though I love small utility fixed blades.

dang...another review...i was looking forward to this one. Ill check it again when photobucket isnt under maintenance...cuz i dig the pics you take and im sure there are some winners in there.
