Crkt Goken - anybody going to get it?

It appears the CRKT market and BF membership are almost mutually exclusive. Most of their products must appeal to non-knife enthusiasts willing to pay more than bottom dollar prices to get one. This is not to criticize the maker or its customers - I own two CRKT knives I bought when first stating this hobby. I am sure there might be some really awesome CRKT items, even I have been itching for a good deal on a used CRKT CHOGAN T-Hawk, but I do not study the brand. Plus, there are a lot more non-knife people than knuts out there. So, it seems the company and customers are simpatico.

I really like the James Williams series - both fixed and folding - and was really excited to see a flipper joining the folding line. But then I saw the price and the blade steel. Asking that street price ($100) is ridiculous for 1.4116 steel, let alone the MSRP ($150). What the hell are they thinking? Is the price so high to pay Williams and Onion their cuts? Frankly, with that steel, this seems more like a $30 knife, tops. What do you think?

I will not get one.

I think part of it might be frustration, a lot of people here like the Designers and Designs, but are annoyed by the fact that they so stubbornly seem unwilling to upgrade. To me it's like a rebodied Fiero that is dressed up like a Ferrari. All show and no go. They already manufacture overseas, they have no excuse not to upgrade given how much better stuff is coming out of similar/same factories.

Man, I remember being disappointed in 4116 when I had it in the Cold Steel Kudu... And I only paid $8 for that.

CRKT's continued existence is a real mystery to me. What, are they a drug front or something?

I got this 4 inch blade Ti framelock for a hundred bucks. That is the price of it new. Real CF insert, VG10 blade, flawless construction. Plus it comes with a leather dangler sheath as well. Oh yeah the blade is on bearings and super ultra smooth.

When we can get a knife like this for 100$ it is hard to justify crkt’s crap.

Design is a no-go for me. Jimping on the back of the handle near the flipper tab will eat your finger until you sand it down. The lock bar gets stuck if you open knife with any type of force - probably the flex it has from being liner-less. Side note that pivot can be a hair loose after a few field-strips and can take some fiddling for everything to be seated. Otanashi and Shizuka are better in my opinion.

Already see the price dropping. Lowest I've seen is $82.00. I'll still wait till it's clearanced at around $25-30.

Seeing it at $60.00 now. How low will it go?
