CRKT Greg Lightfoot M1

CRKT is on BladeForums now.

Let me be the first to say welcome---I don't carry many of your knives---in fact, I only have one; the Crawford-Kasper large model with the black-coated blade. It was a good knife for a great price---$20 from SMKW.

Many knife enthusiasts here will be glad to get input and feedback from your company here.

Thanks for the link.

Sweet! Any chance a 154CM or S30V frame lock could be done? Maybe with some more sweep to the blade and a flat grind? That'd be my EDC for sure, even with a higher price!

All,

You can still get the M1!

We did a co-brand with Snap-on Tools. When you see a Snap-on truck, stop him and ask the dealer to order one for you.

This model has G10 handles, Ti-nitride blade and sells for under $50! It is a heck of a deal.

Thanks,

Doug Flagg

Two and a half years and you felt so passionate about this knife to let it be your first post.:D

Welcome to the forum.

I carried a M1 for quite a few years. Good, strong folder. Nice flipper action. I liked the blade shape personally. Plenty of belly.

I still have it, never carry it though. I just can't seem to get it very sharp.

I went from that to a Spyderco Manix and once I had a blade of S30V, I can't ever go back. Crazy sharp and it holds an edge forever.

If CRKT made a M1 in a premium steel, I would buy it in a second.

Same here! I would like a little more sweep to the blade, just to improve slicing and penetration value. Some really nicely checkered G10 on those handles would be sweet. Possibly a D2 version? I' like a frame lock also, maybe have one side be full metal like ZT does. Man I could think of alot to do to this knife! But I think this post says what my previous one did...

While I would love to see CRKT start competing in the market with premium materials like better G10 and CPM-sourced steels, I don't imagine that happening anytime soon. It seems that while they have innovative designs (sometimes) by using things like LAWKS and AutoLAWKS, and having models penned by world-famous custom knifemakers, they are incredibly limited in their use of steel and other premium materials.

As far as I know, only their assisted openers are made in the United States of America, and feature only 154CM. I have not perused their product catalog lately, so there may have been more additions, but I have been disappointed with this company. I myself would love to see the Crawford Kasper executed in G10 with dual titanium liners, with S30V steel. CRKT didn't seem to deliver, so I just paid to have Pat make me one. :D
