Anybody have any thoughts on these knives? The P.E.C.K looked like it may be a good keychain type knife.. easy to open and easily accessible since it would be already in your hand with your keys.

Thanks.. I appreciate your quick response.. my fingers thank you!

Both are too easy to open. Many reports of them openong in pocket, keychain situations, the PECK especially. Stick with a SAK for keychain carry, and add a Photon micro light while you are at it. I use the KISS as a letter opener, but only for small envelopes.

Hi,
I ahave them both, I use them as a money
clip with the blade portion in a Top (usage)
Card case.

If you use it as on key chain (in your pocket) you will cut yourself.

I carry a PECK in my watch pocket every day and I`ve never cut myself. It does open easily, but I`ve never had it open in my pocket on it`s own. (Really!)

I`m a big fan of the KISS and PECK knives. They work great, and they don`t scare even the the most sheepish of sheeple.

I love my P.E.C.K

I do agree that it was a little loose when I first got it but I fixed that up in a snap by tightening the hex screw. I carry mine every day as a neck knife.

I have had both knives for some time and like them both.No problem with accidental opening on mine. I use the PECK as a bill clip and so far no one has even recognized it as a knife. At least CRKT seems to have some people who are THINKING,designing their entire line.Just my opinion.

I have noticed an inconsistancy in the opening of the K.I.S.S. Some stay closed good and tight and some open a little too easy. No input on the P.E.C.K., except it is too small for my big hands.

I have the KISS folder and fixed blade. Use the folder as a money clip. Like it a lot, no problems with opening in the pocket. In fact, the blade holds firmly in place. Gets me through airports with out any hassel. From the sound of the posts, you should try out the knife before you buy, mine is great.

What? Another knife? Don't you have enough of those things already?

I have the KISS folder. I use it pretty much as a money clip (like everyone else so far). The screw used for opening disappeared on me, and I've found I like the knife better without it. It doesn't catch on my pocket as much anymore.

I got a KISS folder a couple weeks ago and also use it mostly as a money clip. I have cut myself but due entirely to user error. It's my only chisel-ground knife, and it's deceptively sharp. No problems with accidental openings.
I give CRKT a lot of credit. They have excellent quality, designs, prices. Sure there may be some lemons in the line, but IMO every company has some lemons at one time or another.

hello all and thanks for the many responses. Since my original post I have acquired the peck and have it on my key ring. I guess I have had it now for a couple of weeks and have had no problem with it accidentally opening, nor have I cut myself. The blade stays securely in place and only opens when I want it to; also, it is very sharp. I have used it a good bit to open boxes and such without sharpening it.. and it is still verryy sharp. To sum it up.. I'd recommend it as a mighty might!

CRKT has "beefed up" the ball-detent to help prevent the knife from accicentally opening. The new ones feel very solid and should not have any problems staying closed.

Take care,

Mike
