Just traded for this knife, Mint, in box, the larger plain GB Finish model.

It looks good, to me!

Any comments or opinions on this knife would be great.

I have never owned a knife quite like this before. It is a pure fighting knife is it not?

I own quite a few blades, but nothing like this till now!

Thanks fellow KnifeKnuts!

General,
Hope you are doing well today. I think you just picked up a super knife. I have two of the custom models and love them. One has no clip and stag overlays on the satin finished titanium frame. I just get this out and admire it! The other is a standard ti frame with bead blast finish and an ATS-34 steel blade. I rotate this knife on a weekly basis with a Boguszewski Wegner Pro Hunter folder. The Kasper has never failed to complete any task I put it too. Of course neither has the Wegner! The style of blade is more practical than you might imagine as all the tasks I have put it too have been everyday cutting chores. No defensive situations have popped up yet, thank God! This knife fits my hand better than any knife I can remember. The clip is positioned for deep carry which I really appreciate. Lockup is 100% with no blade movement at all. I say all this about the custom model which costs about 10x's what the CRKT model cost. The custom is not 10x's better! Don't misunderstand, there is NOTHING wrong with the custom and I don't regret the money spent for them, its just the fact that for around $50.00 you can get a knife that performs as well! CRKT's methods of manufacture along with their location has produced a super, super value. You have a heck of a knife that you would have to look at closely to see the difference betweeen production and custom!
Enjoy!

I have the large plain version, and I think this is a really good knife, the fit and finish is superb, and I have not encountered any liner lock problems so far. The only drawback is the steel, it needs to be touched up frequently if used regularyly and heavy. But then again, what do you want for this price? It is really a great knife.

Yes, 6M is not a great steel. However I wanted this knife because it is so different from my other blades, and I will use it as a pure defence blade. I would never use this knife in public as it looks so...SCARY! Talk about a sheeple unfriendly blade! It is well made is it not! The liner extra safty is pretty cool as well, nice idea for a fighting blade. If you consider that 6M is a tough steel and not at all britle I think as a weapon this steel works well. Pity it was no in VG-10 or M2! Now that would be a knife. I do think CRKT need to move upward and make 8a a minimum steel and move to the better stuff. The quality and fit, of this knife, put BM to shame!

I guess I'm the ony one that does not care for the KFF. The grip feels slippery, and the liner lock is not to my liking. It is a monster slab of steel, though.

All CRKT's are excellent values. the only drawback to the Crawford/Kasper is the wieght! It can double as a boat anchor!

The grip is slippery? hmm... the finger grooves allow a very secure grip IMHO.

What the...? You guys have been using way too tiny knives for too long.

I've carried the large plain edged one with me daily for months now. And yes, I do use it in public too. Peacefully, I might add... (I think that for a pure fighting blade a knife would have to be fixed blade, preferably double-bladed, and I wouldn't mind some more size too if it's at all possible... My CRKT Crawford/Kasper is just a neat-looking and feeling tool.)

Seb- the cutouts and whatnot all let you keep hold of the knife, but the scales are really terrible, IMHO. It is some sort of soft plastic? Zytel? I dunno, if not for the handle shape it felt like it would shoot out of my hand like a bar of soap...

lol (not really but you get the idea)

I thought that CRKT model sucked because it was way to small for my hand until I realized that was the small one

. The large one's actually pretty cool. So's the Viele

I carry my CRKT Kasper (large, plain edge) everyday, even though I have other, more expensive, knives. I guess I've never really thought about why I prefer it until I read this topic.

I love it's smooth action, it's soooo smooth opening. The blade is shaped just right for most of the work I need it for. I like a blade with "belly" and a strong point. Although it doesn't hold an edge as well as some steels it does slick right up with a couple swipes with a pocket steel. It fits my hand just fine and I've never felt it was slippery, even in the rain. It's substantial (read that as heavy), which is comforting when the chips are down and it looks downright wicked which could come in handy in it's own right.

In my opinion the CRKT Kasper is one heck of a knife at any reasonable price. The fact that it's cheap is only a bonus.

Ilove my KCFF my new favorite knife. I have the large model and now need to get the smaller version. It was made for my hand.

I've handled both the large and small KCFF, and thought at first that the small was too small, and wanted the large. but then, after handling them a little longer, I bought the small...because it actually felt better(ok, so i don't have the largest hands in the world). I was surprised that i would pick a smaller knife over a larger one...i mean, larger is better, right? lol...truly, i like them both, a beautiful knife, IMO

"the only drawback to the Crawford/Kasper is the wieght! It can double as a boat anchor!"
It's light as a feather compared to a MT LCC; almost feels like a toy in your hand. I actually prefer the weight of the LCC, even for pocket carry- doesn't seem too heavy at all.

"it's soooo smooth opening"
It does make my LCC d/a seem stiff and slow (manually opening, that is).

It flicks open very easily, too.

I would have preferred g-10 for the handles, I think it feels and looks better; and certainly, the knife does look a bit intimidating, which is part of the reason for buying it; hopefully a bg will be put off by its appearance and size. Overall, I'm very happy with it.

Yes it is heavy
why

It is a very impressive knife for the money. Pity about the steel and glass bead though...

Still I think it was a great trade!
