Ok...I am gonna take out 3 of my CRKT blades and run them through the wringer for a bit of field-testing. The knives are pictured below. I am trying to think of how I can best utilize/brutalize these blades and see what they can really handle. Post any thoughts or ideas. I will update with pics as they come available. I am still not in the digital world, so that takes time..

sounds cool. I seen a m16z tested before. The lokck left something to be desired, but it performed ok.

i'd be interested in this.

it seems like i read alot of people saying avoid CRKT for a using knife...i wonder how they would fare.

My Leatherneck brother used one in Iraq and it worked well enough...I don't think whole units of Marines would use them if they sucked...

I carried a M1613Z as an EDC for about 5 years. This was before the auto LAWKS it has now. Not a bad knife...but not great either. My biggest complaint besides edge holding was that all the holes get filled up with crud easily.

I have an original M16 and every time I seem to try to take it out I put it back. I like the knife but I just don't seem to carry it.

I am not a fan of the LAWKs either.

I like some of their designs (and own a few as well). Wish they'd use better grades of steel once in awhile. I think AUS-8 is as good as they get.

I have one of the old M16 models... M16-14 I think (half serrated). The thick blade, tanto point and chisel grind is not the best for slicing duties but for rough work is enough. I had chipping problems with the edge also. The steel seemed brittle to me.

I own an M16 with a PE blade. It served me perfectly while in the military and it now serves me well around the yard/house when I know that I'm going to be putting it to some rough use.

My #1 complaint with the knife is the thumb stud. If you need to put your hand in your pocket while the knife is clipped on your pocket that rough thumb stud will start to chew up your hand.

Other than that, I've got nothing but good things to say about CRKT knives.

Mine is a model without the LAWKS.

Honestly bro, I don't want to knock you or your brother. But I believe that many military service members use them because simply that is what is offered in exchanges overseas and in the states. Colombia River also targets military members in their advertising. I think they are decent folders but over priced for the material quality.

Just my .02

Yea...I could have also mentioned the Kasper that I have carried since about '99 working as a mechanic, then as a rig worker, then back as a mechanic, and then as a box monkey. I used it on every hunting, hiking, camping, fishing expedition in between. The only beef I have is the crappy clip. It kept falling off to the point that I used Gorilla glue to keep it on and now the nifty lock is a beast to engage. I agree that there are better knives, as this isn't just directed at you fieldtest, but that was not the point of this thread. I am gonna run these blades through the wringer soon, hopefully tomorrow, what else is there to test aside from batonning, drilling, and basic cutting ability?
