Crkt minimilist

I wear mine all the time. Nice little neck knife for $20.

I wear it when I am going somewhere where a large folder hanging on my hip might go over well.

I find it to be verie minimil. :p

It's got lousy steel, but it's not like you're using a tiny neck knife very hard in the first place, so it's not like it'll dull overly quickly in city EDC use. Comfortable in the hand, but if you can afford it, the Spyderco ARK is definitely a HUGE step up.

I generally agree. There are certainly better choices if you are willing to spend the money. If you are looking for a $20 beater, get the Minimalist.

Yep beater i want i already got a spyderco pm2 , endura 4 , kershaw emerson cqc6 and a old gerber torch 2 that i never admit to haveing lol ewww gerber lol

I have one of each, and the wharncliffe gets the most real use. The clip point is okay, but it's easier to get and maintain an edge on the straight edge for me. The Keramin was a lark with minimal EDC value, but it was really rippy when I tried it out on tough, fibrous plants; I can see it as an effective SD surprise. Just be careful to look at your local ordinances fairly closely, because even a dinky little Minimalist counts as a fixed blade for legal purposes. Where I live it has to be in full view on my person, which can be difficult if a jacket or long shirt flops over it. Restrictions will vary by locale.

Didn't like the ARK at all, was one of the few knives I sent back. If you're searching for something very small and light I can recommend the Realsteel Kiridashi. If it can be a bit bigger White River Knives Caper. Both are significantly more expensive of course. If you want something cheap or just for fun the Minimalist is a great design.

Do you think fact the moran isnt full tang hurts it much?
Full tang isn't going to make a big difference if it's been placed in the handle correctly. The small blade isn't a very long lever arm and the user is unlikely to be whaling away full force given the likelihood of whacking a knuckle. A no-name cheapo might fail, but not a Moran. Spyderco has been at this a while and shoots for a higher QC than CRKT, too, which is reflected in their prices. If you still want full tang, small, and good quality at about a hundred dollars, take a look at Nighthaxan (his name on this forum) Limecutters. They can be found at BladeHQ under the maker name of Suwannee River Knives if they have any in stock.

I feel obligated to say that I am on my 3rd Minimalist.

This is bad and good. It's bad because the first one had a terrible grind and the second one had uneven handles. It's good because I kept buying them until I got a good one!

So you have about $60 invested in a $20 knife?
I'm no great economist, but that seems like not such a great investment to me...

Ya i do , thats the breaks of liveing in canada our dollar is worth so little these days so it drives up the price.

On friday i might go back for the moran if they got it new in box to add to my collection

Hmmmmm ive done more looking im thinking the spyderco ark in h1 might be the way to go any thoughts on that as a better option

I liked the ark alot. H1 steel doesn’t have the best edge retention but it will never rust. Spyderco developed athe knife to he worn around the neck at all times, even when showering so women service members would have protection at all times. Hence the name ARK = always ready knife. Spydercos are considered an upgrade from crkt.

Crkt minimalist is a great knife though just make sure you get one in good condition. Ask whoever you are buying it from to check it for defects or uneven grinds. Also check out the crkt SPEW which i think is an even better neck knife from crkt.
