Anyone got one of the new design?

I picked one up a couple days ago for $50 at a local shop. And I am quite impressed with the knife. It flips effortlessly, just about zero friction. It uses IKBS but the new one seems to have a washer of some sort, I am guessing to keep the gunk out of the pivot. No sharp edges anywhere except on the blade edge. The spine and flipper are nicely radiused. The handle is a stainless that has a TiN coating on it. I went with the dull grey color and it looks great. The knife locks up very solidly with zero play in any direction. The milling on the handle is very nicely done with no burrs anywhere. It is also extremely sharp which I was glad of. It seems they have really stepped up the quality on this knife. Overall I am very pleased with the knife and it is easily the best $50 knife I have ever bought.

nice blade. i have the same one for a more formal secondary carry knife. Ken Onion always does it right and i like mine alot.

enjoy the balde

I'd get the version with better steel if it weren't $100.

Nice knife you got there, though. CRKT's recent stuff is pretty nice.

This has the Acuto440, I am guessing thats like 440c, ehhh not the best but not the worst. I think it retails for over $100 about $90 street. The gun shop always has lower prices and I normally get discounts there since I shop there often.

You lucky duck, you got the good one!

I've heard generally good things about the Acuto steel in the Ripple, apparently it performs similarly to VG-10. Acuto is mostly used in kitchen cutlery, so I think it is a half decent steel.

Nice! I was going to pick one up, but I decided to wait after seeing the Swindle. As for the Acuto+, I've heard it's pretty similar to 440c but with more molybdenum. Seems like it should be better than 440c, but worse than 154cm.

I got a swindle too. It's pretty slick. Just dont like the clip. It was $15 so nothing lost. If you are de aging the two the Ripple is superior. The attention to detail is higher. Better blade finish, symmetrical grinds, deeper hollow grind

I have an old ripple, and recently got a swindle. I think I may get one of the new ripples with the bronze handles. The swindle is very attractive, but after carrying it for a few days I've felt that the slightly swayed back design gives it an awkward angle for cutting. The ripple definitely feels more natural when cutting.

I do love the looks of this though :)

Is the Ripple PRC, ROC, or Japanese made?

The Ripples are the best CRKT knives I have. For one thing they were the only ones to come sharp. Not a big deal for many people who don't mind sharpening but to me a knife that comes dull is underwhelming. I don't have the latest version but I love the look and fit and finish. I feel like the larger model flips better than the smaller, something I have noticed about flippers generally.

I have the old version, which is fine, but has dropped pretty low on my EDC rotation. Hopefully the finish holds up better on this new version. The finish was my only real beef with the original one. I also like this one being a framelock better.

I have an Eros. At $125 it is a well made knife with an excellent ti frame lock. The acuto steel is good, better than 440C in edge wear resistance. The flipper and IKBS makes an addictive toy out of a fine tool.

I agree on the Eros. It's a well made knife that's often over looked. I carry one every so often.

You did good on the $50 deal ( I think?) I just ordered the exact same one for $68 and hope its a sweet one!!!! :-) I'm not familiar with the Acuto steel so I'm hoping it's decent stuff! Be nice in at least S30V ,,?

I actually really like Acuto+ steel. On my Ripple (old design, but still awesome) I find it performs similarly to VG-10 in terms of edge retention and the thing just cuts all day long!
