well I allready got the spyderco. it was at this gunshop here in town where I live, and they where both 39 bucks. It was the old aus6 spoyerdo endura ss. I liked the crkt cuz it was bigger and could ''wave'' cuz of the flipper. I just put some skateboard grip tape on the spyderco, and used a zip tie for a ''wave. I accually am in love with the spyderco:D I can't explain it. it wasn't expensive(39) but I love how the blade catches the light, And the serations look mean. It's my first spyderco.I think I'm gonna get the police model. it's alittle bigger and has the little false edge. and VG-10:) But really, I am developing feeling for this knife. it's like, sexy? or something.:o

Sounds like you've got bitten by the bug.

Time to put the wallet in the freezer? ;)

GET A SPYDERCO. There are alot fo fanboys here that are just in love with spyderco. There is a good reason for that. Spydercos are cutting machines. They arent as attractive, but they work a hell of alot beter. I have had a delica for 3 days now and i love it. Get a spyderco, it will grow on you. There is no other knife in that price range that has NO BLADEPLAY.

Buy, use, and be happy. If you dont like it send it to me,cause i know i will

There are tons of other knives in that price range with no blade play. CRKTs for instance. In general, at any price range, I find CRKTs to have better F&F than my Spydercos. I've had only three CRKTs to test, in fairness, but I play with a lot in the store. I guess I've had about 10 spydercos. One of the flawed ones (spyderfly) was 80 dollars and my para was significantly flawed at 115.
Spydercos are great. But they're not perfect. Blade play is one of the *central* qc issues going on in Spyderco lockbacks right now. And compression locks too. In general, 90% of the time, I prefer any random Spyderco to even my CRKT favorites. But I want you to hear about the other 10% of cases for fairness.

Honestly, I'd think a minigrip would beat both of them pretty easily for the dollar...or an S30V native, or a Centofante. But I'd go with the minigrip.

CRKT best folder ever is the Apache.ATS 34 steel ,solid lock-up,hair poppin sharp.Mine is the large PE Apache.Too bad they don't make them anymore.

for the same money i'd have to say the spyderco, better blade steel. I have several crkt's and have been very happy with them. I even have an m16 with aus4 and it's not near as bad as people say. but in this case there are 2 reasons to go with the spyderco.
1. as mentioned above the aus 6 is better than aus 4
2. when you get tired of it, and you will we all do, you'll get more in trade/ sell for the spyderco.
better yet if you have the money just buy both. good luck, ahgar

i also like the M16, and those M21's look cool too, my fav M16 though is the Ti version which run almost $100, kinda pricey for a CRKT, was looking at a M21 at the last gun show and was impressed with it, very well made.

that said a spyderco is no doubt a better knife albeit more expensive, imho its worth every penny though, hard to beat a delica or endura for a good edc that wont break the bank.

I have little doubt that Spyderco makes a great product considering all the extremely knowledgeable folks around here who are die-hard fans, but their style does absolutely nothing for me. I find the "hump" with the hole in it ugly as a red-headed step-child, and can't see how the hole can be considered easier or more efficient for one-handed opening than a stud or a flipper. I've got a couple of hole-openers from other brands and don't use 'em nearly as much as other types for that reason.

AUS-4 is substandard from what I can tell, but if you want a beefy CRKT made out of higher-quality steel, try the Desert Cruiser. I just picked one up from a local dealer for $25, so they're around for cheaper than that link sells 'em for. It's AUS-8, which still wouldn't be considered "high" grade steel I don't guess, but better'n AUS-4 I would think.

There are a lot of options in the price range you're looking at. Why would you want to limit yourself to only two manufacturers anyway?

While the general feeling here is a Spydee knife. I have to give the nod to the CRKT Desert Cruiser Sepecial Forces for a solid flipper design. Just got one and for what I bought it for it is more than enough blade (AUS8). Outshines any Spydee that I have from a functional standpoint. Blade was sharp enough to shave with out of the box. (Which I did for my Scouts) Paid $25 for it.

I also just bought a CRKT Hawk DOG and that too is an excellant knife ( AUS8). While not coming close in F&F to my Hawk DOG it is a very good and sturdy knife with a thick blade and a very positive lock system. I bought it to show that folders can be used for batoning. Works great. Paid $25 for it.

My Scouts cant afford the "Better" brands of knifes, so I try to show them how the "Lesser" brands offer similar function without the frills. CRKT knifes are functional without the touchy-feely expense. Granted they will never compare to my Chris Reeve , or my Swamp Rat but they dont cost that either

mate dnt even think about it get the spyderco sersly they have excellent product and even better customer service not that your ever gunna even need it ive had the crkt it ant that gud trust me it holds an edge for i dunno say 2 min were talkin about aus 6 again vg-10 its lik comparing a ferrie against a beittle
