I have both a Blur and a Shenanigan. To me it seems like Ken Onion took the Kershaw Blur and made some design improvements, but CRKT skimped on materials quality. I actually prefer the shape of the Shenanigan’s grip. The scales are convex and fit the concave shape of your palm better. There’s a recess for your index finger that lets you apply more force in the forward and rearward directions if have wet hands and/or you need to use a sawing motion. The jimping where your thumb goes is nice and deep, and also really gives you a more secure grip if your hands are wet. The zytel scales definitely seem more plasticky than the aluminum on the Blur. There’s small but noticeable looseness in the Shenanigan’s blade pivot, while the Blur has none at all. The AUS 8 blade seems fine, but I don’t know how it compares to the Blur’s 14C28N. Also important, the Blur fits in your pocket better, being slightly slimmer and shorter when folded. Either knife would be a fine EDC carry and has toughness to spare.
