CRKT's Change from Lawks to AutoLawks

Does anyone know when CRKT started using AutoLawks in their knives? I'm an Industrial Design student and I've been curious to know more about the history behind this somewhat controversial mechanism. I just received a brand-new CRKT M16-13T that has CRKT's "Lawks" system instead of "AutoLawks" which gives you the choice of engaging the added safety when you want. I've liked the knife so much, that I went ahead and bought another one to give to my brother.

I want to say I bought a CRKT with autolawks in 2012 maybe 2011, so sometime before than. I can't help you much beyond that. But I would email the company and ask.
