Crocus Cloth

It doesn't have a grit number; it's much too fine to measure that way. (Grit number is the number of holes per square inch in the screen the grit is sifted through.)

Crocus is also called rouge. It's rust, iron oxide, powdered as finely as possible. It's fine enough to produce a mirror finish; in fact until recently that's the way glass was polished.

A lot of manuf. will only label the rouge FINE, MED, COARSE grade. This may be arbitrary or there may be some industry standard, but the range I believe is 800 to 1200 grit.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. I have been using some of this that was given to me and was curious if it had a grit #. I have used it before at work also (before I retired), and couldn't remember seeing a grit number.
