Anyone ever use a crooked knife?
Said to be indispensable for woodcraft.
I am thinking of making one just to give it a try.

they're nice to have if you wanna carve bowls or spoons.

they range about 15-20 dollars and are fairly fun to play with

just get one, no harm in trying :)

cheers

I got mine from traditionalwoodworker.com. Nice handle but it needs to be sharpened. I've used them for making spoons and find them indispensible for hollowing out the bowls. You can use a hoof knife or crooked knife for this task and both are a lot easier than using your standard knife.

there very handy backwoods tools. kinda like a one handed draw knife.

not hard to make from a file. google for instructions

Anyone use a Mora hoof knife from ragweed as a draw/crook knife? Im planing on trying one out next time I order from ragnar.

I used the mora version on a bushcraft course a couple years ago. Just as good as their straight blades. Same steel and edge. Wicked!

The crooked knife, in a variety of sizes, is indispensable for scores of woodcraft projects. From spoons, cups, and bowls, to toys and wooden boats. The list goes on.

I went down to the local Ag. Co-Op to get a hoof knife. They have a huge bin of left and right handers that are stamped Erik Frost Mora Sweden! $10 ea. so I picked one up. Seems pretty cool so far, but the edge needs some work.
