My longbow of choice and the only one I seem to shoot anymore, is a #61@31 Earl Hoyt. It was one of the last longbow designs he released prior to his passing last Feb. Mine is made of a dull green laminated wood that is actually kind of pretty in it's own right. Before that, I was shooting a #70@31 Hill SafariII. Too much bow for me. Once I dropped some pull weight, my accuracy sky rocketed (from just plain abismal to faily mediocre).
My favorite practice targets are 3D style set in the most akward positions I can dream up. (That usually seems to be what Murphy provides on the hunt.) Also, those little balloons filled to about the size of a raquet ball are great for working on unknown distances.
Find a copy of Howard Hill's "Hunting the Hard Way". It is definitely a fun read.
