cross training the brain for fun and crafts

I like to keep my hands busy so I knit, crochet and quilt. I'd like to get into working with leather at some point -- especially the construction of footwear. My friends and I like to joke that we're all going to end up living on some kind of alpaca ranch for geriatrics. I'm oddly all right with this. :D

Here you go, Novadak,

Essential information for when the hippies take over and drive the military-industrial complex back into their vaults and ammo bunkers.

Right on!!!

Kis, is that your book? In any case, I envy you your wilderness knowledge and skills. My camping skills are very rudimentary.

I like to do calligraphy, although these days often it seems that years slip by without my picking up a pen.

Here are a few recent pieces.

Howard?

Beautiful!

I admire your work.

Wish I could do it. I try not to let potential clients see my handwriting!

Alpaca ranch for geriatrics?! Count me in!

Munk, you are too kind. Notice that I do things that interest me... my poor children just have to bear with it. The book of Numbers helped me not feel bad about teaching what i know though.(what family you were born into affected your station, location, and job description in life!) i used to really stress about doing the "well rounded" thing. I hope to help them broaden their interests later on, but God placed them with me, so the likelihood of a bunch of trumpet plying basketball players coming out of my home is small!

I make knives in my spare time. I purchase the blades because I don't have a forge. I also enjoy shooting and collecting military rifles. I ride my Harley all the time and try not to ride it through bars if I'm over served. My kuks give me an unexplainable enjoyment. Maybe because my Dad brought some back from WWII. Mi HI kuks are also prized. My green iguana is also fun to raise and handle. He rides on my shoulder when I work on knives.

Thanks, Steve

Something about the sound of a plane cutting thin shavings from a length of wood, or the sound of a saw cutting, or the eerie silence of a brace making a hole.

I love old tools.
