Quick question, my daughter's wedding is pretty much funded so I used a little of the MT Live UT sales funds to purchase a nice ZT 0303 LNIB and the shipper sent it in a padded envelope. It seems they tried to fold the box up but did not get one of the end flaps all of the way open and left the knife in the "flattened" box so the box is mangled and one of end flaps is totally bent/broken and I am not sure it is going to straighten out.

The question is does this warrant neutral feedback or is that a little too much. The knife is fine so negative is out of the question but it is somewhat of a collector piece so I am not happy but don't want to be "that guy". The seller has sold quite a few knives over the years, but it seems like only a couple the last year or two, so they should probably know better.

I'm a softy and would leave positive feedback, but I don't care about boxes and respect that others feel differently. I might think twice about buying another knife from that seller, though.

I wouldn't leave neutral feedback without trying to resolve the issue with the seller first. And if the box issue isn't enough to make you want to return the knife, I'm not sure what other resolution might be reasonable.

I don't see any resolution other than returning it and Paypal would probably not support a not received as listed claim (if the seller does not agree) since the knife is fine. If it was a user then I would not even care but I bought it to put up and keep so it just irks me a little that he actually spent more $ on postage and the USPS padded envelope than a small flat rate box would have cost and it came from Honolulu so I guess that I should be glad it got here in that good of shape.

I don't want a partial refund; therefore, returning would be the only resolution so I am trying to decide whether it is worth contacting them or just leaving it alone. I am 80%+ sure that I am going to let it be but wanted to take the forum's temperature on the issue.

If the knife is fine, I would be thankful and not deal with the person again (if the non-damaging, but irresponsible packaging is an issue). Initiating a return/neutral feedback due to irresponsible packaging while the item arrived in acceptable condition seems extreme to me.

Lots of views but only 2 replies tells me to let it go so I am going to leave positive feedback and head to bed. I was just ticked because I was excited to get this and then wondering what was up when the mailman handed me a flat padded envelope, I thought the guy forgot the box. I more than likely would have still bought it if the listing showed a rough box so live and learn.

Oh well, I am going to e-mail him and let him know that using a flat rate box would probably be the best choice going forward. Thanks all

If the box was a listed feature of the knife in the sale I'd be quite annoyed that the box was damaged because it was part of sale, that makes the transaction for more than just the knife. If the seller advertised the box as part of the deal then having it get damaged is the same as having the knife get damaged, in my opinion.

If the box was a bonus that wasn't mentioned during the sale it isn't an issue at all.

It was listed as LNIB, with the box pictured in good shape, but the box was not mentioned in the actual listing (just in the title). The seller apologized and asked if there was anything that he could do so I just said ship the next one correctly. I got the box flap somewhat flat but the rest of the box has a glued seam on one side so I might rip it if I try to lay it flat under some books like I did the opened flap so I am hoping it will come back closer to true over time when stored opened up correctly with spacers keeping it in form.
