its very hard to find any reviews on this steel. I have read good things but would like to know if anyone has any experience with it in a medium size fixed blade. Looks awesome and tough enough for anything

You know, I really wish they would use this steel, and it's equivalent more! CPM Cru-Wear, CTS Pd#1, and Z-Wear. They are similar to CPM 3V, but have better edge holding, edge stability, but less corrosion resistance. With a good HT and blade geometry it is an amazing steel! Has really good edge holding, edge stability, edge durability, toughness, and for a carbon steel very good corrosion resistance.
Too bad people don't use it more in fixed blades. If you know of someone that uses it, and does a good job with it, let me know please!

I feel the same way , and would love to see something with Maxamet as well

I have never had a Bark River. I have heard good and bad things about them.

I love bark rivers 3v and Elmax but haven't tried their cruwear. The bravo lt in cruwear is an excellent option

Just ordeeed mine today Lucas hopefully that cruwear is as good as Stewart claims.. you wouldn't have a gunny in elmax would u?

I noticed that when it came out, and fought the urge to buy one...mainly because I already had a Bravo 1-LT in CPM-3V, and had recently accepted another in trade. If I ever get around to selling the unused one, I'll revisit the idea of the cruwear.

Nope I had one though and sold it because I found a gunny scandi. I wish it was in Elmax as well because with that steel it's maintenance free

From talking with others in the bark river group it seems that it gives slightly better corrosion resistance and holds an edge a little longer than their 3v. And of course the trade off is sharpening time.

I have experienced good and bad things about them. The bad have mostly been sloppy grinds, uneven and sometimes very thin, and poorly finished uneven handles. I have been able to reprofile the odd blades into something usable, with more or less effort.

But the prices are so close to custom territory that I have found it isn't worth the hassle to me. The custom makers here for fixed blades are incredible!
