CS 110--Rivets: Functional or Not?

OK--finally made up my mind after a day of hemmin and hawin on handle material---rivets or not:confused:. The blade was a no-brainer- BG-42.

So here's what I wound up ordering:
BG-42
Silver bolsters
Oak
Rivets
Tan sheath

I thought a lot about the whole user/display issue---this will be a user---so that's why I went with wood.

The Dymond(sp??)wood offerings are just hidious to my eyes---so that left Oak and Walnut---I chose Oak mainly because I've never seen it before on a 110.

And to tell the truth---I wasn't all that impressed with all the stag pics of CS 110's-----the stag scales on my LE 112 are much nicer than anything I've seen on here---maybe I just got a good one and it spoiled me----who knows.

I already have an idea what my next CS 110 will be---this time for display.

Thanks for all your help---OBG

PS-----I think I got the pics working on the LE 112 thread if you would like to see the stag scales on that knife.

That's sort of spooky, I just ordered the EXACT same knife (actually two of them) ten days ago - right down to the rivet, blade, oak, NS, and sheath color. My son is graduating college, I wanted to get him a graduation gift. Figured might as well order an identical one for myself. Yours make 3.

Was also wondering how the oak would look.

p.s. Be sure to hang on to that knife. although I personally am never going to amount ot a hill of beans, my kid will be famous someday. You can say you have a knife identical to the one that world famous junior owns. That what I plan to do.

Got my knife shipment this week. Really liked the look of the oak, while it's subtle, it has some nice color contrast and highlights.

Which would be the superior system specifically for the sambar stag? This knife will be a user so it might see the occasional drop or hard bump.

IMO, no rivets or unnecessary holes in any scales made of stag or bone. They are prime spots for cracks to begin.

Received my Oak 110 also---one side has a decent grain structure---the other is relatively plain---neither has the previously mentioned "depth" to it---but it is a fine EDC "user" knife---which was my intention all along---with the NS and oak scales--its still nothing like you see everyday with the standard production model---its different and still a "looker" despite being fairly plain.

I'm thinking Walnut for my next one.
